So happy that Buzsacky is finding form again and proving his worth! He got a bit tired in the second half today (and the ball wasn't being played out to him much) but his first half performance was excellent. He was unselfish, kept calm, played wisely (as did T. Smith) and showed that he still has something left. I remember so many folks on the message boards slagging him off over the last couple of years saying that he'll never put in such good performances again. Sometimes you've just got to have a bit of faith. please log in to view this image
A couple of stray passes but other than that a good solid game. How long will we have to wait for another one is the question?
Any chance that he is a player more suited to the Premier League than the Championship? Just a thought, not saying that I believe it.
I thiught the same after watching the game.Buz looked like he belonged in the prem.he will only get better once he gets totally match fit.
Adel was marked very close and he didnt show-boat as much.worked harder for the team and played off the right ball more often than not too.
Buz walked around the pitch with pomp yesterday. He looked good. Hs workrate although good, could still be better IMO. He is worth his place no doubt. With Adel being tightly marked, Buz, Tommy, DJ, Jay etc etc will have to step up to the mark. I was impressed with some of the football we played yesterday. We were patient and calm. We still gave the ball away very easily though and this will hurt us against the bigger teams.
funny how at the end of last season it was a case of when he left not if, now the very idea of him going would cause a guy to get his ass whupped! fan favourite indeed...
Terrific to see Buzz playing well for the team. Enjoy his play and the more opportunity he gets, the more we'll see him improving back to his true potential. Bit of a forgotten player, but I believe he has plenty to offer this team in the coming season. We'll see if he gets the chance. Good that NW picked him out for praise too, will do his confidence the world of good. Well done Buzz!!!
Glad to see others agreeing. I've felt that I could see his confidence growing and he'd made a few comments about wanting to force his way back into the team. I think his confidence was at a real low before, especially when the Magilton situation happened. He seems to have come back from all of that now and maybe some of you are right, maybe he is more suited to this league. Taarabt was impressive yesterday, in my opinion. He was very mature in his playing and attitude. He was only silly once, when he tried to show up Neville and failed. Otherwise, great. I don't think he was quiet as such, just more mature and did things at the right time.
Agreed. Buzz is looking good. If he can add consistency then I believe he could get a lot of game time this season. Also good to read that people are praising Adel. Plenty on here get on his back when he gets it wrong (rightly at times), but he played well yesterday, playing the right pass most of the time whilst being very tightly marked!
We seem to have slipped into talking about Taarabt on this Buz thread. Not surprising really, given that the pair of them comprise our entire art department and that serious questions have been asked about each players' ability to make an impact at this level. Then there's that other question: can they play in the same unit? Goodison provided some hints as to the answers to both questions. Credit to Buzsaki here. Fact is he's had a lot more time to review his place in the scheme of things and clear now that he's seen the need to wind his neck in, drop the prima donna stuff and pass and move as part of a unit. It worked for him and us and as a result he got the full 90 without looking out of place. For Taarabt, the questions were the same and, at the end of the day, so were the answers but the Everton game was very much a lesson in the workplace. In closing him down so efficiently and so often, the blue defenders were showing the T boy what he can and cannot get away with at this level. Food for thought and you could see through his adjustments as the game progressed that at last Adel was starting to think. Gradually a pass became the closen option. He too got the full 90 and more of a team job done. With this much respect for the size of the challenge ahead, both showed they CAN play in the same midfield - provided they're prepared to pay the price. Drop the ego and keep it simple. Effective yes. Creative no... for the time being anyway. Imo neither Taarabt nor Buzsaki sufficiently understand the premier league to reproduce the creative nuances they're known for at lower levels. It may well come back for one or both of them but for now they must concentrate on the basics and establish themselves as cogs in the wheel of an increasingly successful (if rather boring) prem unit. Thereafter, once they've found their feet and gained the necessary confidence, the sky's the limit for the spectaculars both men (not to mention us fans) crave.
Some good points Brixton I think the one thing you didn´t mention is the fact Adel is not match fit yet and when this eventually comes I believe he could start coming out of his shell and into his own once again, however it must be for the good of the team. As for Buzz I thought he had a great pre-season and looked like he was getting himself back to the "old Buzz" we all know so personally I am not surprised at he's preformance and the fact he WILL cut it in the prem.
Point taken Flan, but tbh at 22 years old, fitness is not the issue it is for the 30 somethings. It has to be a learning curve for the most part and yesterday's performance strongly suggests we have their attention - so all good from our point of view. Could be that on current showing, Taarabt will be with us for a while to come yet.
Where's Buz' biggest fan QPranger100 a.k.a Brummie Boy? I thought he'd be the first on this thread to talk up Akos and give me a bashing. I actually feel quite let down!
All the team played I feel with a great deal of patience and composure ... we rode our luck of course but we were the away team. It a little like the Cardiff game away last year as we thought we would be turned over there if we were all honest but a quiet confidence grew amongst the team and before you knew it we gained some control. Yesterday I even thought we may get another goal. Buz went along with the mood and the energy and we matched them when we kept the ball and this we can do very well, we are used to it from last year ... when we get there to that point it looks effortless, everyone grew back to what i think we have and got. One size looked class as we grew and at the end Everton looked drained and we looked like we could play another game. I am looking forward to the day that the pundits look at Buz and see what he does when the game goes this way. I only really fear our play when we launch it long as it needs to stick to our front players if we play that style ... hoping that the players coming in add to our energy and not disrupt it and Buz keeps putting in shifts like he did against Everton
Let's face it, we'll be playing a lot of away games with that sort of set-up. It got us promotion last year and with a bit more quality will frustrate a fair few PL teams. I'm certainly feeling a lot more positive than I was last week. Buz has shown he still has a part to play and good to see him making his mark.
I though Akos provide an extra out ball for the back 4 often the one coming back to pick and take forward, his first look was to get the ball forward rather than sideways and backwards (no critissim ment of our defensive Midfield pair here). With Adel staying out wide and well covered he gave an added dimension. He also work hard as did all the team, however he will have to eliminate those sloppy lazy passes especially in the middle of the park.
