Buzsaky: Hoping to force his way into Warnock's first-team plans Akos Buzsaky is delighted to be involved with an ambitious outfit like Queens Park Rangers, but admits he is hoping to be more than just a squad player. The Hungarian playmaker has been at Loftus Road since 2008, making him a rarity in as much as he has survived the many ups and downs taken in by the club in recent years. The 29-year-old admits he is honoured to still form part of the club's plans, as they attempt to consolidate back in the Premier League, but is keen to point out that he has his own targets. Buzsaky has been selected in Neil Warnock's squad for the forthcoming campaign and insists he will do all he can to force his way out of the shadows and into the top flight spotlight. "Last week the squad was narrowed down to the 25 players that can play during the season," Buzsaky told Nemzeti Sport. Honour "I should be happy that I was chosen and I could also say that it is an honour to sit on the bench of a Premier League club, but that is not enough for me. "Our manager, Neil Warnock, knows he can rely on me at any time. "I am the last member of the old QPR generation, but that is down to me. It was only me that decided I would stay here. I won't be forgotten about. "I think it is not only talent but also persistence that you need if you want to be successful in football outside of Hungary. "Our aim this season is to avoid relegation, but I think there is more calmness than stress in the dressing room. It's good to be here at the moment."
Loved Akos,he was class for us a couple of seasons back, unfortunately he hasn't looked the same player since he got injured. He will be a decent squad player, but won't get into the first team unless players get injured! It would be great if he could reproduce some old form, but we will just have to see if he gets the chance!
I hope he can. I've always been an admirer of Buz and when fully fit, i believe he can be a very valuable squad player. His style is far more suited to the premiership rather than the championship.
I'd love it if he was one of the players that has upped it 40% since the new guys came in. One of my favourite players of the last few years.
So would I Matt, undoubtedly he has the talent. I ain't gonna lay into the bloke because no doubt he's a fine chap. He's just one of "that" type of player that drives me insane; Bags of potential that never gets realised. Shaun Derry said in an interview two weeks ago that that type of player drives him up the wall as well and when asked was he referring to Tarbs he said no its someone else. I've nowte against the Buz but I know he'll never produce the goods at the top. Sad but true.
I disagree. He's looked good recently and I think he was on his way back to gaining his form. Hopefully he can get a few appearances to keep the momentum going.
I take your very valid point though I have always had a soft spot for the gifted but not quite there. Richard Langley was another favourite from the dark ages. Frustrating but always special if they pull a decent performance out of the bag. Buzz is saying the right things but needs to put the hard graft in (training and all). I'd say he's 10% more skillful than, say, Tommy Smith but needs another 50% effort to match his work rate thus moving ahead in the pecking order.
Now that is strange. I was going to mention Langley too but for some reason forgot to. Matt, I'm going to insult you now mate and I hope you don't take it to heart: You and I are like long-lost twins. We're on the same wave-length brother!!!
No offence taken whatsoever! My grandad's middle name was Swords and I come from a long line of Hoopsters. ;0)
I know it sounds crazy but maybe we should loan akos out on maybe 1 month loan just to get his fitness up to scratch.
Sad to say this... but he's not good enough! End of. Stop your romancing etc etc. Along with Rowlands, Cook, etc Buzz is history. In fact you can already refer to him in the past tense. Thanks for everything Buzz, but we've moved on, you haven't kept up. Thats the prem for you.
Btw, stop going on about Richard Langley, Yes, he was a great talent, but didn't cut it. He was one of the reasons why we spent so long back in our dark days. He wasn't good enough, neither was Leon Jean, or Paul Murphy. Move on, the future is good solid proven prem players, ( Remember '76? ) The youth academy will come to fruition in about 10 years. Anyway, what about that young chap we sold to Liverpool??? I can't even remember his name. Point made.
probably the only way he can force warnock into putting him into the first team is to kidnap his wife and hold her until he is included.. hope he dosent read this or i could end up on charges for incitement
Whilst I think tha Buzz is a good player, and smeone that is more sited to Premier League than Championship, I just cannot see him shifting SWP, JB, Adel, Derry or even get in front of Tommy Smith unless we have a major injury problem. He did well against Everton, guess we will have to wait and see
Sorry, didn't realise I was only allowed to have favourites from the most successful spells. Everyone else since Sir Les is ****e (including the current players unless they finish in the top 5). I only say that because I was born after 75 in which case Stan was best and everyone else since is crap. Is that OK? Two more points:- 1) To this point, you consistute 33% of the posts mentioning Langley. 2) The fact you don't remember Sterling does not validate your point, it just makes you seem like the person nobody would want in a pub quiz.
