I reckon the destination of the PL trophy will be decided unexpectedly early this season. No doubt many City fans thought the race was over after the humiliating 1 - 6 defeat — or maybe the day we failed to score a crucial second goal against Newcastle at Old Trafford?

Despite our doggedness, experience and despite Fergie's ability to devour title after title, I fear that unless our squad is heavily supplemented in January, its frankly game over. We're simply not as good as the league leaders, the woeful Real Madrid and Inter or AC Milan.

As has been the case for the past two decades, we cannot be counted out of any competition until we have to face a side like the mighty Basle or, as a few PL managers will be saying in April and May, until it's mathematically impossible.

This year is a massive month for us. We have the FA Cup game against Liverpool, the league game away to Arsenal and, perhaps the most important battle, navigating through the minefield of the January transfer window — its buy, buy or bye bye..

The players we should be attempting to sign wont be available in the January transfer window.

SAF does not do January buys, unless the right player is available.

When will they ever be? There's always some excuse isn't there, this summer it will be that there is a major international tournament.

No value then I would suppose!!! We'll end up buying someone who's value won't rocket due to being involved, ergo not ****ing good enough.

Only Fergie will know when the key players are coming back. I am sure if Modric is available he will be interested but unless the player makes significant difference there is no point. We have had our fair share of disasters: Djemba Djemba, kleberson, just to name 2.

Players who will make a significant difference to us like Schweinsteiger, Sneijder, De Rossi, Goetze, Ozil, Modric will all be playing in Euro 2012 this summer and their values will rocket as a result.

Fergie will then whine that they cost too much and buy some second rate south American. Like Anderson or Kleberson for instance. Someone ****, who they'll try to con us into believing are actually good.

Modric, no thanks, I would rather lose the title than buy another big fish in a small pond from tottenham
