Alright chaps a couple of weeks ago when Di Matteo got sacked it was on everyone's lips who would take over, would they get there number 1 target or as it seems in Pep Guardiola or would they go for someone already in a job? As we know they got Rafa Benetiz but after watching a fine Dortmund display thrashing Ajax 4-1 at the Amsterdam Arena it got me thinking about why Jurgen Klopp does not seem to get linked with any of the English jobs when they come around so I decided to have a search on the internet. What I found was an article from earlier on in the year with Klopp talking about his lack of desire to come to the Premier League as the German League is the superior league, he spoke about a couple of season's ago he was very interested in coming here and Liverpool was a possibility but not anymore. It got me thinking is the German League really catching the English League up? The Italian league has declined drastically over the last few years, the Spanish league could realistically in the next 2 or 3years decline quite rapidly as well with the financial problems all the clubs are facing bar the top. We have seen recently that Dortmund look far superior (as a team) than Man City and there is a massive difference in the price the squads cost, you cannot forget about Bayern Munich last years champions league finalists who are full of superstars such as Ribery, Robben, Lahm, Gomez, Sweinsteiger etc. and other top teams such as Schalke, Leverkusen, Hamburg etc. and some of the young kids they are producing over there are outstanding! Reus, Schurlle, Gotze, Gundogan, Leitner, Alaba, Kroos, Holtby, Draxler etc. the list goes on and on. Getting onto the main point of this article, with the German League improving all the time could it realistically catch up with the Premier League or is ther far to much money in the premier league? and should SAFC as a club take a serious interest in the league bringing players in to really kick us on.
I would say Germany is possibly the stronger league overall. But the PL is still comfortably the best to watch. The pace of the game just means it is more all action.
The Russians will start challenging for European tournaments in the very near future. Dortmund are my tips for the Champions league, they look immense!
