Commentary is available on Charlton player.
    Phillips
    Cousins, Ajayi, Osborne, Fox
    Bradley Jordan, Poyet, Bover
    Hayes
    Azeez, Piggott

so last year's youth team except for Bover in place of Harriott and Hayes in place of ... no-one in particular because that midfield place was shared around several players. I think Gerard played there most?

1-0 at half-time - Azeez from a Hayes through ball.

Second half Dean Florence on for Poyet at defensive midfield.

    Then Holmes-Dennis on for Fox.

Sairava and Sho-Silva on for Hayes and Bover.

Joe Gomez on for Ajayi. Who he?

    1 - 1 with 20 mins to go.

    Muggeridge on for ?

2 - 1 Piggott with a fortunate penalty after a great pass from Sairava. Against the run of play as Charlton disorganized with all the subs.

    Finished 2 - 1

Joe Gomez is a U18 Centre Back/Right Back, the club has very high hopes for him. Somebody tried to nick him last summer, can't remember who?? but he stayed with us :) Not big for a CB (so will probably end up at RB)but reads the game well but can suffer from overconfidence at times which he gets out of at U18 level but wouldn't at Pro level.

    Thanks AllHell.

Who remembers Joe Shaw, possibly the best CB never to be capped by England? I think he was 5' 8", maybe even 5 ' 7", and a real centre-half, not a "sweeper". 600 + games for Sheff Utd. Wouldn't see that nowadays even though the game is less physical.

As there isn't much to say about the Bury game, is it better to be always remembered as the "best XXXX never capped" (like Bartram) or to have one cap and be promptly forgotten? I suspect the players themselves would have preferred that one cap to nothing.

Meandering even further, who was the worst player ever to win one cap for England? Hard to beat Michael Ricketts who won his in a friendly in February. He was so out of his depth he was taken off at half-time. Not only did he not score another goal that season but his career went steadily downhill from that point to much derision. Maybe that is one player who would rather have missed out on a single cap?

Eddie, I think Paul Elliot was perhaps the best Centre Half never to receive an England cap? If the Roooofus had played for a bigger club then he would have had a good case for International honours <ok>

Agree re Elliot, but RR certainly wasn't far behind. Also Steve Bruce, but he wasn't cafc :)

Gomez is an u16, made a few appearances for the u18s as an u15.
