A gig at the Gigg, not been to Bury this century, last time there was about 1997 when Stan Ternernt's Shakers wiped the floor with us 3-0. Who's to bet that it won't be that score again. But football supporters being what they are I will be taken my newly mended car to Greater Manchester with optimism as due to the laws of average we'll beat someone soon. Bizarrely we could possibly be classed as underdogs as the home side are above us in the league mainly due to the fact that they have taken more points out of the last 24 played for.(We've taken 1) God knows what team or formation Brown will use there were 4 changes on Tuesday night for the defeat at Southend. Believe Ashbee, Alexander, Daley are all injured, if the first two don't play it will lower the average age of the side to 10. Apparently loannees are on the way. Finally one thing about this poor run of form at the moment is the lack of comments from our mega rich owner and Magic Maurice the chairman. Do they care? At the moment nobody seems to know.
What the hell has happened to Preston? Think it is time for Brown to walk along with some of the deadwood. Preston should not be holding league one up with the experienced players they have. It is about time the owners took some responsibility & get rid of the problems rather than seeing a club possibly playing in league two next season. I feel sorry for some of the decent Preston fans who have to watch & put up with this week in week out. About time the owners showed some respect with the North End faithfull & do the right thing instead of letting the club go down the pan.
Every time I've been to Gigg Lane it rains, well it seems to do anyway. Have not been there for 14 years and after today will no doubt be going there next season providing Preston stay up. It all started well, with North End dominating the early stages, the returning Procter forced Belford into a save and Forte shot into the side netting. The tremendous away support were in good voice and looking forward to ending their abysmal losing run. The only goal came after 15 minutes, a Preston corner was cleared by the Bury defence and the ball found it's way to David Amoo, he gave a passable impression of Usain Bolt and he left the two covering defenders for dead and advanced on goal before chipping the ballover the Keeper. Have to say it was a classy finish. (1-0) He nearly made it two with a back heel but Stuckmann pulled of a fabulous save. Stuckmann then saved another effort with his legs before North End really should have equalised. Procter got the ball in the area and fought his way to the byline his shot slipped through Belford's grasp rolled across the goal line and away past the far post to safety. A\ fairly evn first half with the away side playing some decent football for a change. The 2nd half was different, a pretty tame first 15 minutes until a Coutts shot was tipped over the bar by Belford. It was about this time that Bury started to realise that the game was there for the takingand started to get on top with Picken going close. Amoo really should have increased the lead waltzing through non existant tackling before his close range shot hit Stuckmann's backside and went to safety. The away support was becoming disenchanted to say the least and there was dersion with some aimless passing late on in the game, McCombe headed a corner against the Bury bar but in truth the result was never in doubt in the last 15 minutes. A pretty depressing result. Bury 1 Preston North End 0 Att4957
themaclad, hope you get out of this mess. Lindsay should do the right thing & get rid of the deadwood before the fans either stop coming or they do what they are doing at Blackburn regarding Keane to put their point of view across at home matches. If he does not act he is the one who is going to lose the Preston faithfull, only so much you can take before enough is enough. What has happened to flyingplumber the boards are not the same with his banter?
Can't have that tell him to get back over on here we need him to keep the boards going. Is the another Preston forum he has moved to?
The Pebble is a PNE forum join up the more the merrier. I'll keep this forum going, I like lost causes hence I support North End
I think we are in the same boat maclad. We are standing in for every other supporter who have either left old 606 or gone over to shrimpsvoices which is the Morecambe forum. I think this board will not exist if the mods don't drum up more fans to use it soon. Good luck hope you get rid of brown. You Preston fans deserve to see some action or the owners don't see you through the turnstiles until something gives.
