Burton van Rooi (born 9 July 1982) is a Namibian cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium-pace bowler. He played in the Cricket World Cup in 2003, as well as the 2001 ICC Trophy tournament and the Under 19 World Cup of 2000. van Rooi generally occupies the lower order. Van Rooi's nephew, Ashley, made his Under-19s debut during the 2007 Under-19 African Championship, and his List A debut later in the year. In 2011 Burton astonished diners in a restaruant in Windhoek by eating his dinner using his feet rather than his hands. When asked about the incident Burton said he did it because it made him feel special.
Although 'van' is actually part of Burton's name, he doesn't actually like vans or indeed any form of commercial vehicle.
Burton has been banned from Burton's as he often walks in declaring himself as the owner and pilfering a number of suits, shoes and ties ... but oddly enough not socks.
In 2005 Ashley Van Rooi was banned from his local municipal library for inserting a piece of chewing gum between the last 2 pages of every John Grisham novel.
