Burton Albion Vs View attachment 23282 Gillingham Match Day Thread 27th April 2013 3PM- Pirelli Stadium This is the Match day thread, this is where you can post your team predictions, chat before the game about the match or anything else, chat during the match and post updates on the match and also chat after the game about the score and write your match report. Also if I am at the match I will write my report after the match giving my view on the players, join in the chat and have fun. Team News Gillingham have already named their team after becoming Champions at the weekend and the team is much changed with Nelson, Fish, Legge, Barrett, Whelpdale, Lee, Kedwell and Burton not starting. The team for this game will be Forecast, Romeo, Davies, Frampton, Muggleton, Gregory, Dack, Allen, Grant, Birchall, Weston. Burton don't have many doubts, they have 2 players missing one being Lee Bell who is their captain and he is suspended, as well as him Jack Dyer has also been ruled out of this match. Past meetings Gillingham have only played Burton Albion 6 times, winning 4, drawing 1 and losing 1, the 4 wins have all come at home but the draw and defeat have come in the away meetings so this means have yet to win away at Burton Albion. 28 Nov 2009 Gillingham v Burton Albion W 1-0 FA Cup 25 Sep 2010 Gillingham v Burton Albion W 1-0 League Two 19 Mar 2011 Burton Albion v Gillingham D 1-1 League Two 24 Sep 2011 Gillingham v Burton Albion W 3-1 League Two 27 Mar 2012 Burton Albion v Gillingham L 1-0 League Two 20 Oct 2012 Gillingham v Burton Albion W 4-1 League Two This seems to be a good Burton Albion side and with many of ours rested it will not be easy considering they have the best home record in the league having won 16 home games, but we still have the best away record so what a meeting to have as the best at home play the best away team. Current league table Gillingham are now the champions of League two after 45 games as they sit on 83 points which is 6 points clear of Port Vale in second who are all but promoted to League One. Rotherham are in poll position to follow and can still finish second but Cheltenham are 4th and 2 points behind Rotherham and Burton Albion are 3 points behind Rotherham but only a freak set of results would see them finish in the top 3 so it seems they will have to settle for a play off place. HOADIEâS View on this match I don't have much of a view on this game, we have won the title so I don't really care too much about this game but unlike some people who after seeing the team sheet thought we would lose this badly I don't, my head is saying it will be 1 nil either way or potentially a draw but the heart says we will shock some and win this one. The score line and scorers The score will be Burton Albion 1-2 Gillingham (Kee- Birchall, Dack)
Hope you Gills win on Saturday to finish off the season in style. This is going to be the last you will hear from me on the forum as there are too many people taking the p**s out of me. So goodbye and best wishes to you all
I bet Weston to score first and us to win 1-2 so looking good so far it's now 0-1 with Weston getting the goal. Should have let Birchall take it so he got a goal.
Not a shock really but there is still positives as some of them have done well. Harry Grant sounds good.
OK so we lost - but - there were so many first team players missing that the result really didn't matter. The youngsters did quite well - but you could see that they're not ready to step up - particularly at full back positions. Nyalfi looks to be a good prospect & took his goal really well - he could deserve a bit more time on the pitch & may turn out to be a very useful striker. Forecast pulled off a couple of outstanding saves - but didn't command his area and verbally help the youngsters in front of him (as would have Nelson). The fans were magnificant - everybody was in party mood but they were immensely respectful towards Burton when they did their lap of honour. Well done Gills and all the fans - enjoy your summer nb - don't forget that the Alwaysright Gordon Road Stand thread will be open for business during most of the summer.
