After watching the game on tigers player with the bloke from KCFM commentating on it, I can now safely say in my own opinion Burnsy is a million times better. I can't remember half the things he said but I was laughing at the commentary most the way through the video. The only mistake that springs to my mind at the minute is calling Corry Evans - Brett Emerton. I'm also pretty sure he called Koren - Kilbane once. But overall the standard of commentary was pathetic, as it was the only other time I listen to it when we played Leeds away. Now I know Gollem and Swanny are useless twats, but Burnsy alone makes the BBC more worthwhile than KCFM. I know there's alot of gripe about Burnsy with the administration and Allams deal being off lark, but for me they're the only massive things he's got wrong (as far as my poor memory tells me). In Burnsy's defence he does quite often seem to be right about things, but even when he's not he's passing on rumours and says himself "It's only a whisper, not confirmed" but it seems a majority of people choose to ignore that part and take everything he says as fact. I also think Burns has a decent down-to-earth opinion on things, says things as they are and doesn't get carried away like the armchair phone-iners. He's also a decent football commentator and you can actually get on and listen to what's happening in the game rather than thinking "what the **** is he waffling on about" most the way through the game. I also think the beeb should get Gollem and Swanny to sod off and find some more suitable replacements, especially Swanny, he can go back over to west yorkshire to live in the past and drool over his beloved white ****e. What's everyone elses opinions?
I like all three of them TBH, I don't know how this "hate all journalists" culture started amongst city fans. My only gripe with Burns is he now seems scared to criticise anything at the club for fear of them not talking to him again.
If either were any good, they wouldn't be working on KCFM or local radio. I can't help thinking that they just sound like elderly Uncle's at the match that have been given a microphone instead of a pie.
c. None of the above. I think Burnsy get far too much attention on here as it is. Gwylm Lloyd alone is a reason to never listen to Blunderside.
Other than the admin saga I dont have a problem listening to him, and will be doing so tomorrow seeing as I have to work!
I just can't stand the advertisements on KCFM, and tbh i do like to catch up with the failures of Scunny and listen to Grimsby as i will always wish Grimsby well. However Burnsy i don't like him but i can't say i hate the fellow, i don't really see what he has done massively wrong. Is it really his fault he is so wrongly informed? Is it really his fault he got the job? He just states his opinions as facts and there normally wrong. Nothing to hate someone for.
K C F M in th run up to the premire league was far superior to Blunderside , with Linton Brown and Alex Burgess there commentry was first class There reparte, fun, you could feel the atmosphere from the match. But now the drawl from Blunderside's lads is boring, not much better from KCFM
Burnsy is quality and Swanny ok. At least Swanny does not sit on the fence. The rest on Humberside are terrible.
I thought this was going to be another slagging of Burnsie / RH. FWIW, I totally agree with you. The other week I listened to a commentary and call in's from both stations - KCFM was pretty dire in comparison. Unfortunately so as good competition can be healthy, and it's good to have another option for when RH go with Scunny or Grimsby. Main issue I have with Burnsie is that he's a bit too full of himself at times.
Burnsy is ok apart from his stupid laugh Swanny is ok except for saying " As I say " for 90 minutes Humberside radio's coverage of Hull City could be better, The going around the grounds thing is really irritating, Who gives a monkey's about Scunthorpe and Grimsby.
KCFM always for me, if I'm not there. Especially enjoy it if KCFM have the "A" Team, Alex Burgess and Garreth Roberts. Burns is so far up his own arse it's beyond a joke.
a couple of years ago, it was easily kcfm... but its gone right downhill... humberside isnt great either mainly cos of swanny, but i put up with that.. i think burnsy gets a lot of stick, everybody makes mistakes in there job, he gets ,more right then wrong.
Ha, you know what I'm going to say......Burnsey is an egotistical yogurt basher of the highest order. I ****ing hate the twat, would love to bump into him round the back of a stadium!
I prefer KCFM tbh. But only cos I know that if city are playing, they'll be on it. I hate getting those nasty shocks when city are away and scunthorpe or grimsby are on instead and I have to change the station as quickly as humanly possible so I don't miss anything.
I always quite liked Burns when I only listened on the way home from a game. Fortunately I missed the commentary and the complete r-tardedness of swanny but Burns always seemed fairly on the mark with being able to call a game. It's when I started listening to sportstalk that I realised his limitations are rather obvious. I think he just needs to know something that is quite clear for a journalist - if there is no news then its not necessarily a bad thing, yes he has to report something every day but don't make things up. He seems to put 2 + 2 together a lot when there is little news about and embelish truths. I'd say the administration talk last summer was merely his imagination running wild when there wasn't a great deal of news about. I tend to read a lot more varying sources nowadays and when I hear his daily update on City I often find myself thinking 'absolute rubbish' when he starts with his 'BBC Humberside understands...'. Anyway, I digress. In answer to the original question I'd say Blunderside - only due to Burns abilities when actually commenting on a game itself. Anything further than that and they are worryingly inept.
And the kcfm bloke on tigers player called Dawson Mcshane enough times, but more annoyingly.. after Koren had a volley on the edge of the area, he claimed it was James Chester, complimented him on the shooting ability.. and THEN that lead him on to talking about Chester's recent goal. This wound me up somewhat, and will now listen to music while watching the tigers player in future.
Personally I'd like to hear Alex Burgess and Garreth Roberts running the show on Blunderside. I think they're the superior commentary team, but the others around them and the infrastructure at KCFM is very poor. Humberside have the finance and being a BBC station, the resources to be the best - but the idea that Swanny is the best Hull City pundit available really winds me up when the likes of Whittle and Roberts are out there. Burnsey and Gollum love the sound of their own voices far too much. At the moment, I put up with the ads and listen to KCFM.
