we need to kill the game then show selfishness and arrogance .. and that apply on all our attacking players today

Decent result again but our performances haven't been up there of late. We'll need to do better against Spurs in our next PL game.

Hopefully Rashford doesn't get anywhere near that game. His movement and use of the ball lacks maturity. Lukaku was wide open toward the end of that match and he still tried to dribble. Pointless!

If we can get Sanchez before Spurs game, it would be extremely good for us. He would replace Mata in the starting 11.

I have to disagree with half of that, his movement was good.
The maturity bit I agree with, I worry that he is going the Memphis way by trying too hard to impress with the spectacular in his short time on the pitch instead of showing how effective he can be if given longer.

Martial was a great acquisition by us. When we paid £38m rising to £55m, everyone laughed at United. He is quality and one of the few in the team who can make a difference when the going gets tough. He has shown he is much better than Rashford.

JM seems to have found his best 11. Mata will be the one to be sacrificed for Sanchez.

    VALENCIA BAILLY JONES YOUNG/SHAW
    MATIC POGBA
    LINGARD SANCHEZ MARTIAL

Had to laugh at a scouser on 5 Live phone in tonight

Caller...Sanchez should have gone to a team like Liverpool, United park the bus and don't attack

Savage...United are the 3rd highest goal scorers in the league and that's without him

Caller...yeah but he could have gone to City if he wanted to win trophies

Savage... United won 2 trophies last season, City won nothing

    Caller...yeah but, but, but

Co Host..well we really need to end it there for the news, thanks for all your calls

And yet at the start of the season, Rashford was playing intelligently whilst Martial was dribbling everything and losing the ball far too often. They are both still young and sometimes inconsistent, which is why it's great we have both - one of them will usually find something in a tight game like yesterday.

Switch Sanchez and Lingard imo - Jesse isn't good enough dribbling and running with the ball, whereas Sanchez has the technical ability to go past people whilst also having the acceleration to cut in off the right and find space.

Either way, Sanchez is definitely a huge upgrade over Micky and brings more balance with his ability to play more roles.

I think Mata was good.. but guess could be him or Lingard .. with Sanchez playing at right side and either mata or Lingard moving centrally.
Rashford form is a shocking a decline from his form .. maybe not starting since long time, had caused his sharpness to be dropped

    totally agree on both
have to say Lingard offer us pace and workrate .. I think facing stronger sides he will be ahead of Mata in picking order

I never get the criticism that always seems to be aimed at Lingard, how is he not good enough at dribbling and running with the ball? He's scored and created loads of goals by running at players.

Lingard since he has been given his chance in the side has been our best attacking player. Martial has stepped up in recent games, but over the last 10 games Lingard has been our top performer.

Mourinho will not drop Lingard now either, as he offers so much in terms of energy and work rate.

As much as I do like Juan Mata, I feel he will be the player to make way for Sanchez. But if it was down to me Lukaku would be the player id drop. Lingard would be the last player I'd be dropping.

Running at players, but rarely running past them in the same way Martial and Sanchez can do. Most of his goals come from positioning and movement into space, as well as great touches and control (with both feet as well). The only ones I can think of when he really took on a number of players with close control were against Leicester and Watford where he was running through the middle of the park with more space. He's nowhere near as effective out wide when there is less space and full backs will tend to shepherd players more closely.

And tbh it's not criticism, I've rated Lingard for a while now, and was pretty much the only one defending him in the summer window and after the Super Cup when most people assumed / hoped he would leave. He's far from terrible at dribbling and running past players, but it is not his forte when compared to players like Martial and Sanchez. He is just vastly more effective playing in a central role where his superior control, passing and ability to find space come to the fore.

I don't think he will be being played out wide though, I think he will keep his position in the middle.

Sanchez has never really played as a central attacking midfielder, he either plays on the wing or as a striker. So I think Lingard will be keeping his place and it will likely be Mata who makes way.

I can't see it being Martial, as he is playing so well at the moment, and it won't be Lukaku, as Mourinho would look silly having payed 90 million for him.

That was my point - Christian's team had Sanchez at 10 and Lingard out wide, I would always have Lingard in the centre and Sanchez on the right.

That's arguably the whole point of getting Sanchez - having a player who will make more intelligent runs out wide to get on the end of passes from Lingard. Hopefully Tony and Rash can learn from him and improve their positioning and movement as well.

Sanchez is so versatile he can play anywhere upfront. At Arsenal he played a lot on the left wing cutting inside to shoot. The position played by Martial. At Barcelona he has played a lot on the right. I would keep Martial where he is and play Sanchez on the right with lingard behind Lukaku. There is no reason why these players can't interchange their positions within a match.

That would stop Lukaku having to drift wide right all the time too (though Valencia being back will help with that).
