This Saturday lunchtime sees probably the pivatol game of the season....If Leicester win they move 6 points clear of Burnley and the likelyhood of Champions, however if Burnley win by 2 goals they go top. For the first time this season Burnley have a few selection headaches as it is likely that Ings will still be missing and Marney their influential midfielder is suspended after picking up his 10th booking of the season last night...... From an R's perspective a Leicester win would be preferable because if we beat Blackpool we will be within 7 points of Burnley and they still have to play Wigan so things could become interesting.......I know we should now concerntrate on the Play Offs but a 7 point gap with 21 points to play for is not insurmountable..... 1 game at a time eh? Thoughts?
Better for us that Leicester win. They have also, thus far, been the better team this year and are worthy Champions.
Leicester win would at least keep things interesting with regards to catching Burnley (always assuming that we don't **** it up against Blackpool!). Highly unlikely that we can close on them by 11 points unless they have a complete meltdown. Can't see it myself, but stranger things have happened, especially when the pressure starts to take hold. A hammy for Vokes wouldn't go a miss either!!
2 points from our last 2 games and some of our usual fickle fans are in meltdown. I even read one post this morning on JA606 from a LEICESTER fan saying we are "papering over the cracks" of our goalscoring problems!!!!! This was based more on our poor conversion rate of 31 shots at goal last night and a small percent on target, but come on FFS!!! It beggars belief the mindset of some supporters, just chomping at the bit for a reason to MOAN! We are the highest scorers with 70 goals, top of the table since Boxing day, unbeaten in 18 games but we are "papering over crack! unreal. Id be happy with a draw at Burnley on saturday.
Here's another thing...Burnleys next game after Leicester is away at Watford who are one of the most unpredictable sides in the division, if they draw and we win at Bournemouth (I know, I know) then the gap is 5 points with 18 to play for......assuming they lose to Leicester....off course if they win those games then this is totally academic....
Have you be consulting Mystic Meg again? Nada is impossible. I bet you didn't predict we'd win the league in our promotion season, before the season started did you. If I'd have told you we'd win it before that season started you'd have told me to get on my bike. I'm not saying I'm filled with confidence but I do know that anything can happen.
I've actually started blocking these kinds of posters on here so that I don't see their posts anymore.
I know Jack. I guess it goes with territory of being a Leicester fan and always making it difficult for ourselves.
Leicester's run is outstanding and Burnley's not far off it. We haven't done ourselves any favours recently but the automatic promotion spots are a lot tougher to get into than in most previous years*. They fully deserve to be where they are and I don't see either 'blowing up'. * No research has gone into this statement.
I actually think Burnley will beat Leicester on Saturday and that will be the two auto places sorted.
Hull went up with 79 points last season. Shows how well Leicester and Burnley have done this season as they have both already got there (already exceeded by 3 in Leicester's case). I expect we will comfortably exceed 79 points but will have to settle for trying for promotion via the play offs.
