(Is it just me, or does Burnley Belvedere sound like some kind of dodgy northern cocktail??)

And so we've come to the end of the road, and just like that we've seen our boys become men with a final hurrah and last day trip to Champions Burnley (congrats to Vinny Kompany & Co), I honestly think there is something quite fitting in the Champions hosting the greatest team in football on the last day of the season, don't you??

I didn't see this coming, but with my holiday plans meaning I'm actually on the beach before the team are, this may be a little presumptuous, but I'm assuming that by the time we kick off, we are mathematically safe from the drop with Reading having lost 3-1 at Wigan and us having secured a 98th minute equaliser against Huddersfield at home to send our old boss Neil Warnock apoplectic with rage as the 4th official had indicated a minimum of just 6 minutes but then having to account for their keeper wasting time by cleaning his boots with a toothpick before a goal kick that gets returned straight back down field and is popped in by Sory Kaba for his 2nd of the game and 10th of the season...
The ensuing celebrations meant that Warnock and Sol ended up going head to head again and Sol is now missing from the bench for today's game which disappoints him as he was looking forward to going toe to toe with Bellars to round the season off!!

Anyway, we travel to Turf Moor for the final game of a long and arduous season to face the divisional champions in their own back yard (hopefully) being thankful for not needing anything out of the game other than a sense of pride.

Earlier this season we held the Lancastrians to a creditable 1-1 draw at the CCS in October, with a 90th minute equaliser from Callum Robinson. After the game, then boss Mark Hudson nailed it when he stated we'd gone toe to toe with the best team in the league in a game that the visitors dominated posession but the Bluebirds had the greater number of shots overall and on target.

The previous corresponding fixture at Turf Moor was back in 2019 in the Premier League, which saw the City go down to a meek 2-0 defeat. The goals both came from Chris Wood in the 31st and 92nd minutes, however, the game was not without some controversy when the referee decided to overturn a penalty he himself had awarded to the Bluebirds with the score at 1-0, with Mike Dean appearing to change his mind after consultation with his assistant... (Hmm, what's that song we always sing about poor referees again??)...

    Early Bluebirds Team News
OK, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that we won't have picked up any more injuries and thus have our regular pool of players to choose from.
However, one change will be that Ebou Adams will be included on the bench and is likely to feature for 5 minutes at the end along with the lesser spotted Rubin Colwill and maybe even Isaak Davies (so long as we don't need anything from the game).

    Prutton & Co Predict
Clearly there won't be a prediction for a little while yet, but I'll save any of you from looking by stating that we'll have been predicted to lose, quote comfortably by a score line of around 4-0.

I'll Let Sparkey give you the latest odds closer to the time (Cheers Sparks :emoticon-0142-happy<cheers>)

    Fun Fact
Burnley's now recognisable claret and blue kit was only really introduced in 1910. Prior to this their shirts were actually green. Rumour has it that newly appointed manager John Haworth wanted to switch colours to match those of then champions Aston Villa in the hope that it would bring more luck (hmm, sounds a little familiar that)..

    Sharing The Love
I covered a few very good players, including the late, great Peter Whittingham, Jimmy Mullen, Tom Heaton and Brian Flynn on the home thread, however, despite that original list being fairly short, there does appear to be a bit of a dearth of players to have shared the jerseys of both sides, but, that being said, I present to you for one last time our shared "heroes" (note Alan Lee makes it on 2 weeks running)...
    Burnley Apps.jpg

So, can the mighty Bluebirds pull off a last day shock and eek out some sour grapes from the Clarets? Will we turn Jordan North's "Turf Moor Happy Place" into a last day nightmare scene?? Can Smoochie help us to finish off the season with a Gaelic flourish (steady on there Masky)???

Barnes.jpg Ashley Barnes demonstrates his Gaelic moves on Joe Ralls in our Premier League clash at Turf Moor

All I know is I'll be on a beach in Spain keeping one eye on my phone whilst trying hard not to be distracted from my Kindle by sun worshipping bikini clad Senoritas as Mrs Brizzle gazes on!!

    Blooooooooobirds!!

Might get a trip to goodison.
I usually go with a mate who is a toffee.
If they're down long enough, could get to go to their new ground.

Been an honour and a pleasure gentlemen.

I'm happy to continue next season so long as you chaps would like me to stay, though if anyone else does want to take it on then I'm happy to gracefully step aside and allow others the privilege.

Hoping to freshen it up a little next season if I do continue on though... Don't want to get too stale eh??

Thanks for all the good wishes and kind words. I'm proud to represent our wonderful board :emoticon-0139-bow:

A fantastic season finale Brizzle. <applause>

I particularly liked the bit about T'Udders keeper cleaning his boots with a toothpick.

Please return next season. Hope there are no attractive financial offers from Manchester.

As for someone replacing you, it would be like PSG signing Gary Madine to replace Messi!!!

Just been messaging my toffee mate.
He reckons Everton will get a points deduction next season because of their spending.
So he thinks Wrexham fans will see the new ground before us.

Don't think the EFL can apply a points deduction penalty imposed by the Premier League. It would probably be waiting for them if they got back up.

Personally, I don't think they'll go down despite that thrashing by Newcastle. Dyche is going to push them all the way and they won't go down with a whimper.

Hope the travelling fans that have been magnificent this season have a great time.
On paper it's a thrashing for us but with "away" being the new "home" for us, plus the shackles are off, I can see (hope for) us getting a point.

    My team talk:
Right chaps, give it a go and if we get a penalty then our dead ball specialist takes it.

BBC has Colwill at left wing back. WTF!!!

Not a great looking team. Understatement.

I would prefer us to be preparing for life without Teflon.
