Still rankles that he said he wanted to be close to his family in Scotland. Does 2 hours make that much difference? As with others he has followed the trail of the £. Disappointing for such a fans' favourite but his form in the latter part of the season was not good. Wonder if Jolly Rog had any influence in this?

This stinks, I accepted the guys reasoning when he said he wanted to go back to Scotland because he was homesick, and wanted to be close to his daughter who he missed terribly.

I wonder how much a week more Brum offered him to conveniently stop missing her? I admired Burke as a player, but as a human being..........forget it; two faced Judas springs to mind. Never mind his ability on the pitch, with this attitude I'm glad he's gone.

I'm gutted :(
He doesn't have any family in Birmingham but i bet it was MacLeish who persuaded him from returning to Scotland. Mind you they've probably got the best chance of being promoted provided they don't lose any of their big names and the Chinese guys keep putting money in. Good move for Burkey

Let’s just say this I spoke to Burke in my shop only a few days before the Reading defeat. I already new the rumours about him missing family so apart from the obvious questions around Bellers fitness and if we were ready for the reading game. I asked about him and his contract and if he was happy in Cardiff his answer " I love the area and have really enjoyed playing here I hope me and the club can sort it out I'D LOVE to stay". For the same reasons as Ledley doing the dirty on us I have now lost all respect for what was one of my favourite players. As said is Brum really that much closer or did you really love it here as much as you made out.

Was the fact that Cardiff wanted to cut their wage bill a factor?

well, it looks like birmingham offered more money than we could, so he's gone there. its a shame IMO that he's done the dirty on us because he was a real quality player for us, good with the ball at feet, and gave 100%. annoying that he'll be lining up against us next year too, because i really liked him as a player for us.

Agreed Swamp I would have loved to see him in a city shirt next year but it looks to me that the city are one by one letting the high earners go. The Riddler and Jones paid to much in wages, we got to start again.

I thought the reason he didnt sign a new contract was because he wanted to back to Scotland...

anyway who would we like to see replace him

Geez...two face Judas... he always gave us 100% and honoured his contract. I thank him for the effort he gave us. This is 2011....players move. Nobody want to earn less than they can (maybe a lot less).

"I hope he breaks his leg"....surely not meant!!!

Obviously it wasn`t that he needed to be closer to his family was it,
now you can see that he didn`t want to stay with a club that has no chance of getting to the top level.

Burke has gone for the money, we obviously would not match the wage demands of his agent. Thats just the way it is these days

Burke is doing the same as Pratley.... It's a money thing.
