Seen all sorts of **** posted regarding Burge. In my opinion he's a good league 1 keeper who probably saved us more points last season than he lost us. Whenever someone is challenged to name when he lost us points they seem to either disappear or become forgetful.

So... Should he stay or go.

    I vote stay

Stay, decent shot stopper. Hopefully Preece can coach him to command his box more though

    Great riff, thanks Nile

We could upgrade most of our squad, this is not a priority. He needs support & he ain’t Lionel Perez

    Replace.

Nasty habit of making mistakes leading to goals, it will cost us points.

Good enough for League One but I’d replace him when we go up.

    Stay.

I’ve observed other league one goalies and they all have mistakes in them.

I’m opposed to the constant vitriol as well as it’s counter productive

Borderline for me, he's a good shot stopper and that's the main thing however I like a big and confident keeper who commands his box and he's none of that. I don't mind him making the odd mistake these things happen but I'm not sure he can be coached to be my type of keeper.

It looks like the recruitment team are targeting players who can do a job in the championship without needing to be replaced, and they've done a great job so far, so I don't subscribe to the theory that we cannot do better than Burge just because he's a decent leader one keeper.

Whether that's a loan of a Sanderson quality talent or a McLaughlin type I don't know but we're capable of signing players of their calibre.

Stay. We need to remember what league we are in, and he’s a good keeper at this level.

All keepers make mistakes and for obvious reasons those often lead to a goal. Flip side is he was also a huge reason we left with three points yesterday with two vital saves later on.

Whack a poll on the thread mate.

Stay, but he will make mistakes at times and save us other times. **** me, I think I've just described every goalkeeper that's ever played the game.

I'll go with what ever the management team do, if they back him for this season then let's get behind him. Ultimately if we do get promoted we will be needing another for next. All this **** arguing is uncalled for and could even unsettle the player himself if he hears what's being said about him

    Stay,
he has the ability as a goalkeeper in saving shots etc.
And with us looking for a new GK coach and probably bringing a decent one in, he could improve overall .
I'm all for improving the squad, whether its bringing new players in or improving the ones we have got.
Wyke is an example of the latter.
Grigg just can't be arsed and needs shifting.

Sick of talking about him tbh. I don’t think he’s good enough and would like him replaced, fingers crossed the recruitment team have a GK in mind for the back end of the window. If he remains as #1 then I’ll support him and praise when necessary.

Stay - ALL keepers make errors.
He makes & has made points-saving saves.
He is a good 3rd. div keeper - at least.

Stay. With the caveat that I wouldn't be upset if we got another keeper in. The criticism of him is unwarranted and that annoys me.

We've been spoilt in the past with some excellent keepers, but we've also seen a lot worse too. At this level I'd keep, with a view that Patterson should develop into our future first choice keeper. However if Patterson doesn't develop well enough, and we're in the Championship next season, we'd need a replacement then, so if an opportunity to get in a "next level" keeper now comes up, then go for it.
