And if some people are badly injured or killed?
Not so simple then.

I don't like having to bow down to the threat of mob violence.
But the price we have to pay - inconvenience for home fans after the match - is a lesser evil than the possible threat.
A permanent solution should be found, but I have no idea what that would be.

Massive police presence is never going to be possible.
And Millwall fans are never going to behave better than they currently do.

It all comes down to the stark reality that the Police cannot handle a crowd of angry Millwall fans in a safe manner.
A reality that nobody in authority will admit, but is self evident.
I would say it is 100% the responsibility of MFC and they should be forced to resolve it.
And pay for the extra policing that their fans require at every away match.
Bit dramatic thinking there’ll be deaths - mind you it is the spanner’s so I guess so that’d be a win win <laugh>

@lardiman

Nobody risked being killed ?

@Smudger603 is right.

If Millwall fans are held in a stand, they might set it on fire.
If that happened, there could well be fatalities.
There is no telling what they might do, they have no self-restraint whatsoever. That is the whole problem.
These are the possibilities the safety people have to consider.

Sorry for being so stupid.

I won't embarrass myself again by trying to join a conversation if my opinions are only good for being laughed at.

It’s such hyperbole Lardi.

Why would Millwall fans set the away end on fire ? They are kept behind every single away game …other than when they play us.

With the best will in the world I cannot see plod thinking of this scenario happening. I cannot think of many others come to that.

@lardiman your scenario is extremely unlikely to happen.

What could easily have happened is many Charlton supporters coming to grief with the congestion outside of the ground.

Firstly they’d have to know how to create fire - we are talking about spanner’s here! Secondly if they did create fire they’d only put themselves in danger ! :emoticon-0137-clapp
