What a disaster for both parties. Not so bad for us of course!

Predictable. Great player, but will be remembered as a perennial crock.

Maybe I've done the fella a disservice. He perhaps knew that he couldn't shift Joselu from 1st 11. Not with his brittle legs. So he opted for West Brom's treatment table rather than ours.

He has played 65 minutes more than our loaned striker to date. I am not going to start gloating yet.

Fair point but I think Sir Alan is more reliant on Sturridge than we are on Slimani.

West Brom need something pretty fast or they are going to be taking the first berth downwards.

Without a doubt and it shows how silly it is to put your hopes in an injury-prone striker being the man to get you through a crucial 3-4months. I wouldn’t be surprised if Joselu scores more goals than Sturridge to the end of this season.
Isn’t there a fable about this: The Hare and the Tortoise (or in this case Donkey)?
I have no problem with West Brom occupying a relegation spot - nothing against them. Just one less for us.

Sturridge was worth a punt. As was Slimani. Both have been very injury prone in recent times. Hopefully we get the lucky end of things. Rafa wanted the guy so hopefully he can get him and keep him fit.

Wouldn't Rafa have been better saving the money for next year. After all - isn't that what we hire Managers for - to make sure we always have sufficient funds in the bank.

It was only a matter of time before this happened again to the lad. He must be in a perpetual state of anxiety, just waiting for the next injury to come along. I think his mental state probably affects his physical state. Shame, Boo Hoo:1980_boogie_down:

No we are in the PL now so he may as well spend it. I think you are referring to the start of a two year period in which some felt he overspent to get out of a lower division. The challenge will hopefully be the same next year as that will mean we’ve stayed up. He will then access greater funds we have generated. As promised. It’s taking you guys a long time to understand what the process Rafa agreed to was. We hire managers to do the best they can with the funds available. Sadly and I know for a Man U fan like yourself this is difficult to understand, we are operating in a different league to the big guns these days. We are working within our means though so the long term health of the club is joy in danger thankfully.

Am I right in thinking that SOME = Free-Dor?
Of course its taking us a long time - we don't have the insider knowledge that you do. Guess that's what happens when we sit in the normal seats.

I think there are multiple. I suspect they are even more if they’d just take the happy clappers off for a while and simply look at it coldly with an honest appraisal. Sadly it’s not a trait many Newcastle fans have. Delusion reigns and it’s much easier to say “it’s the owners fault”. We are a bit lazy really.

Think that's West Brom gone now 7 points to safety with 11 to go, granted that's only a three game turn around but its out of their hands, but then 6 points separate 19th to 10th - really is squeaky bum time for everyone in the bottom half.

It what possible insane universe was Sturridge ever "worth a punt"?!

It was a certainty what a team was going to get with Sturridge, i.e. colossal weekly wages and him crocked after 2 games.......oh and what just happened?! Pardcunt now trying to pour water on the fire saying he'll be back in 2 weeks, bullshit, and even if he is he'll get crocked again as soon as he comes back.

We've all slaughtered Joselu, but Joselu has more goals this season than Sturridge! Yes, that's a Stoke reserve outscoring somebody who is supposed to be one of the hottest strikers in the league.

I wonder if there is more to the stories about Sturridge's attitude that even a rather minor injury will lead to him declaring himself unfit, he obviously has talent but there is something wrong when such a potentially great striker is shunted down the pecking order then out the door of 3 of the top clubs in the Premier League, the way he walked off the pitch didn't look as if it was a major injury.

There are plenty of players over the years who have had injury problems but been backed by their clubs, far more than those shunted out. It does raise question marks when so many different groups are identifying the same sort of issue.
