Double standards ! Which one is costing a packet warming the bench, & which one is in the team scoring goals ? Both did wrong but only the surplus one gets punished !
seems like a good way of dealing with it to be honest, they broke the rules and have to accept whatever punishment the club sees fit, the fact its two different punishments is because its two different players ......simple really.
From what I've heard Bullard was seen very drunk, with his trousers down and seen entering a casino. I don't think the same was said about Michael Chopra. Bullard's crime was worse, so his punishment was worse. so it seems anyway.
To me, PJ always speaks well and has dealt with players since he has been here in the right way. For me this was the pragmatic thing to do and I hope they both learn from it, especially Bullard, who will hopefully get his head down and work hard to get back into the team.
20 minutes late for work and Chopra fined two weeks wages? I wouldn't accept that as fair if I was 20 minutes late for work, I don't think many people would, and shouldn't the same "offence" attract the same punishment whoever the players involved are, or are some players immune from certain punishments depending on their current value to the club?? Would never be accepted outside football...
Chopra at this time is priceless........Bullard at the moment is an expensive luxury...supply & demand...! Bullard, breach of contract..?
If Jimmy is in breach of contract for being 20 minutes late for training then I would imagine Michael would be too, (assuming that our players have a fairly standard contract regarding discipline, etc) Seems to me to be a case of a sledgehammer being used to crack a nut, should have been kept "in-house" and not leaked to the press... In all fairness, PJ does say that he's tried to do what is good for the team, but in doing so has probably dispensed with any concept of fairness or "justice", and that makes me very uneasy...
they've been treated individually and most of all in a way thats best for the club, as a supporter i really can't complain at that.
ptc The splinters in your arse must be giving you major grief!! For once, why don't you grow some and say what is really needed? Both players should get the ****ing sack, its a disgrace and anyone else would have been sacked. Bullard should be trying to work his way back into the team, not continue to piss it up and as for Chopra.... has this ****ing clown not learnt his lesson?? Some ****ing example this is setting to the younger players!!
Spanish, sore head in the morning me thinks......sack our leading goal scorer... Sack our highest earner...
How by me saying I that I agree with him is that sitting on the fence?? lets sack Chopra and see where that leaves us!! Not everyone would get sacked for being 20 minutes late for work after a night out, infact alot of jobs allow this every once in a while and it also depends how dispendable/replaceable you are!! What I would say if any employer ever read the cr*p you write on here I would imagine you would be the first in the queue at the job centre!! Sounds like you have a bit of a chip on you're shoulder and are bitter they didn't invite you for a bit of a knees up, instead having to drink home alone!!
Whatever we may think about the action that has been taken (and by PJ's own admission it is a case of double standards), the fact is we won't miss Bullard one bit whereas we can't afford to drop Chops on his current form. But generally I think disciplinaries in football are mystifying and not always befitting of the misdemeanour anyway - the imposing of fines makes me laugh considering the vast wages most players are on. At the end of it all it's down to player power, the player knows it and the club knows it, which means they can more or less get away with murder.
I've never understood why footballers get into so much trouble for being late for training anyway. It's not like it's a terrible misdemeanour, is it?
No its not spot on at all, how ****ing stupid are you guys? So we bail out Chopra to the tune of about £250k and he repays us by going out on the lash in Newcastle with Bullard, who in turn, decides to visit a casino knowing Chopra's problems. This is soooo ****ing ridiculous its untrue but hey ptc, you carry on backing the ****ing clown that is Jewell. To be honest, Jewell can't criticise his players for anything as he is hardly the ideal role model is he? Just another embarrasing moment in the history of ITFC!! But according to ptc it doesn't matter as jewell has handled it perfectly, really??????
If people don't agree with you its always good to just be offensive..............................................................
Hey Spanish, I hope whatever you were on yesterday has been binned and you are in better mood! I have always enjoyed your sparky posts over the years, but this time my son, you well off the mark...and rude to fellow fans dammit! On this matter - the punishment - I am right behind PJ and the majority here. It was proportionate, fair, swift, and individual - more important bearng in mind the Club's delicate state, it was pragmatic and suited us all. While I was always a doubter on RK, I have been willing to give PJ time. He admits his mistakes, is honest, open and likeabale kind of bloke, who has now got some of the best football I have seen for years, being played on the park, with some very sweet touches and confidence flowing thru the veins....and we are seeing some scorching goals!! How good is that? And we are climbing up the table in healthy chunks....Perhaps not too much to expect a hard fought point at St Mary's and again at Hull, then a top 10 place is well within our sights. So cheer up old chap and start looking on the bright side of life and Town. We are in danger of having a very solid Base for next season to really push on for top 6 2012/13. Having shipped out several old and tired cases. Who knows a good away fans pub at Southampton?
