This piece deserves a read and plenty of comments, because it does seem to me to be the building blocks for the future. It also pees on the parade of Chippy because this guy says it started in 2017 when Radz came in. See what you think https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/leeds-united-bielsa-corberan-future-15131999
Yup, good piece Doc. The emergence of such a talented group of kids all at once augurs well for the first team over the next few years if we can keep them together. The problem is the better they get the more attention they'll attract from the Premier League, we need to get up there asap so we don't have to be a selling club when the big boys come calling.
Agreed and when I think back to the abuse Orta took last season but many kids were signed unnoticed by the average fan. Aapo Halme, Sam Dalby, Stevens, Edmondson, Clarke, Miazek and a few more. Then reading what Kalvin Phillips said at the weekend is an eye opener: He said the players were scared of Bielsa coming in because they didnt think they were good enough to play Bielsaball. He went on to say bielsa sat them down and laughed at them then the coaching staff spent time with every player who was on the retained list. They all feel a million dollars now and know they are good enough to play Bielsaball. I believe Orta is key to all this. The players he brought in that Christianson couldn't manage, Corberan was brought in and now Bielsa uses him, Orta knew Bielsa and brokered the deal after convincing Radz to talk to him. Orta is taking a Holistic view of everything and Bielsa wants everyone at the club on the same page with discipline, education, tactics, health, style of play, confidence..... Yes a couple of bad buys but are they bad buys or just that Bielsa has only so much time and can only teach so many at once. Idaguchi, Bhoy were both strange deals, but if Idaguchi could have got a work permit maybe different. Klich has proved the difference between a player who was not liked by one manager and abused and now looks like a world beater and certainly one of the players of the season so far with Pablo, Roofe &Phillips
Superb article that Doc, thanks for sharing. Loved the bit about soaking up Bielsas character and wisdom while we have the honour of his presence in the building. Surprised more hasn’t been said about that Clarke finish against Bristol City, I thought it was breathtakingly good.
Marcos this is a version of what I read https://www.leedsunited.com/news/te...can-put-ourselves-in-a-really-strong-position
Wouldnt it be great if this could continue for three years say and see where or how far it could bring us
