Last time out the Canaries put in a battling display against lowly Wigan Athletic where they eventually ran out 1-0 winners courtesy of Johnny Howson's early first half strike. In truth it was a rather dour affair but City had been on a wretched run of form up until this encounter and at the end of the day securing the three points was all that really mattered. City fans will be hoping that the corner has finally been turned and they can now look forward to their side making a serious assault on the play-off positions if not an automatic promotion spot. A narrow midfield four was employed to support the Canaries' front two at Wigan last weekend, however heading into this Saturdayâs visit of Huddersfield Town, City chief Adams says they will consider every outlook because they eye each Sky Bet Championship fixture on its own merits. please log in to view this image Jonny Howson celebrates after putting City ahead against The Latics City Boss Neil Adams previews tomorrows game âI think you have to look at it all the time. It was a good performance (at Wigan), but when youâre at home sometimes the onus is on you to come and attack teams. As weâve found, teams have generally tended to sit back,â he told Norwich City TV ahead of the game. âWeâll certainly have a look at it â as Iâve said all along, weâre certainly not afraid to change tactics or the team. You pick a team that you think will do a job and win a game for you. âLooking back, weâve felt the team selections have been right and the tactics have been right, what have let us down are mistakes that have cost us goals and points. Thatâs what was pleasing last week, to keep a clean sheet and get the three points.â Adams is hopeful that the uplift after the Latics victory will ensure it doesnât stand alone on the fixture list as they look to improve form at Carrow Road, starting on Saturday. âIt is about maintaining that of course. We need to put points on the board, as weâve said all along,â he said. âItâs another good chance for us now, a home game, to go and follow that up because what we donât want to do is waste that win at Wigan. It will be fantastic for us if we carry on in that same manner. âWe do need to get back to Carrow Road being a noisy place and for us to be winning games there, and Iâm sure one goes with the other. If weâre winning games, itâs noisy.â Wes Hoolahan and Ryan Bennett (both ankle) each have a chance of being named in the squad of 18 on matchday, although Adams revealed Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe still hasnât fully recovered from the knee problem picked up in the 0-0 draw at Sheffield Wednesday in October. âHeâs still got a little bit of a niggle with his knee,â he confirmed. âIâm generally hoping everyone will be available from last week and also if they go well enough over the next couple of days, Wes and Ryan. âHuddersfield have got one or two threats as weâre well aware of, but weâre confident, particularly after Saturdayâs performance. Weâre really keen to back this up and to go into the Derby game and the festive period with points under our belts.â As for Town, Chris Powell wants his side to use the momentum gained from Saturdayâs win over Brentford to improve its away form â starting at Norwich City this weekend. Town ended a four game spell without a win on Saturday at the John Smithâs Stadium with a 2-1 win over the Bees and Powell mentioned the importance of this win at his pre-match press conference on Thursday. please log in to view this image Terriers Boss Chris Powell âWe certainly needed the win. We hadnât won in four games, although admittedly we played some tough teams. A lot of teams would lose away at Derby and even though it was a tough night we actually had some good spells in the game.* âWe then lose one game at Bolton and go down to 19th. We win one game and go back up to 15th - thatâs the Championship. Saturdayâs opponents Norwich have been better on the road so far this season, with just three wins at Carrow Road. Chris continued: âNorwich got a terrific result away from home last week, but they have found it tougher at home and they will be looking to rectify that. We will be looking to continue that struggle and show the same level of performance and desire as we did last week to really get ourselves in the game. âIt will be difficult; theyâre an ex-Premier League side with a very good squad and some money behind them and some very good purchases. But theyâre in the same league as us and weâve got to believe weâre at the same level and are capable of getting something from Carrow Road. Once weâre out there, we will be looking to impose ourselves and getting a positive result.â Saturday's game also promises to be an emotional one for Ex City Captain and three time player of the season Grant Holt as he makes his first appearance back at Carrow Road since his departure. please log in to view this image Ex City Captain and goalscoring legend Grant Holt returns to Carrow Road Current form Norwich City: LLDLW Huddersfield Town: LLDLW Match History The Canaries and The Terriers have met 38 times in competitive fixtures City having the slight upper hand with 12 wins to Town's 10, there have been 16 stalemates. Unchanged I think: Ruddy; Whittaker, Martin (c), Cuellar, Olsson; Howson, O'Neil, Tettey, Johnson; Hooper, Jerome. Subs: Rudd (GK), Turner, Grabban, Lafferty, Hooiveld, Hoolahan, Redmond. Hoolahan fit for the bench.
I think our line-up today works when we're looking to be compact away from home, and to be hard to beat rather than expansive, but I'm not sure how it's going to work at home. There's no width to stretch teams, and not a great deal of creativity either. That said, it worked for us before with Hoolahan at the top of the diamond, so perhaps that's something we'll see at some point?
