Although the Rams currently lie third in the Skybet Championship table, they have stuttered of late having lost two of their last three league encounters. Last week County were beaten 2-0 by Middlesbrough who leap frogged them into second place courtesy of this result, this was followed by a home defeat in the Capital One Cup where they were beaten by 3 goals to 1 by Premier League title contenders Chelsea. The Canaries on the other hand appear to have turned a corner after a frustrating run of results and have won on their last two outings at Wigan and at home to Huddersfield Town last Saturday where they thumped the visitors by 5 goals to nil. Goals from Nathan Redmond, only his second in 50 games, Cameron Jerome, Lewis Grabban and a brace from Bradley Johnson securing all three points. City bag five against The Terriers Match Preview NEIL Adams is welcoming any selection dilemmas for this Saturdayâs game at Derby County (12.15pm). Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe (knee) is set to be the Canariesâ only injury absentee for the trip to the iPro Stadium, with Mark Bunn, Ryan Bennett and Javier Garrido all making their returns to action for the Under-21s versus Liverpool on Wednesday. Against Huddersfield, Adamsâ three substitutes â Nathan Redmond, Wes Hoolahan and Lewis Grabban â all had a direct impact on the match and will come into contention for a start at the weekend. âI think all three of them did exceptionally well,â Adams told Norwich City TV. âNathan in particular from half-time, we wanted to give him the full 45 to get established in the game and he started with almost his first kick. Itâs the same with Wes, it was great to see him back after such a long lay-off, and he looked the Wes of old. âWith Lewis, I was delighted for him. He works hard on the pitch and on the training ground, and with his first touch smashes it in the back of the net. âItâs a good, competitive group weâve got now. Off the back of two wins, itâs good to have the players available if theyâre needed.â The positive wave from last Saturdayâs thumping of the Terriers shouldnât be underestimated, according to Cityâs boss. âItâs obviously great to get those type of results and it gives everyone a huge boost, myself included,â he said. âIt was a very good performance in the second half, and off the back of the Wigan victory, it sends us into the game with loads of confidence and our tails up in the air. âYou can remain positive but results are everything. Youâd take a bad performance and a win, of course you would, but obviously the manner of last weekâs game when we played exceptionally well and scored goals for fun to win the game - that gives you a double lift. Derbyâs run in the Capital One Cup came to an end at the quarter-final stage in midweek as Steve McClarenâs men were defeated 3-1 by Premier League leaders Chelsea. Adams was at the game and knows all about the Ramsâ threats, led by Norwich City Academy graduate Chris Martin, who has scored 12 Sky Bet Championship goals this season. âI went and watched them against Chelsea in midweek, and you can see why theyâre up there at the top end of the table,â he added. âTheyâve got good players but theyâve had a couple of defeats, and it will be interesting to see how they respond to that. "Theyâre a good side, weâre well aware of that, but weâre a good side as well and Iâm sure theyâll be giving us the respect that weâll certainly give them, and weâre confident going into the game. âWeâll go there to win, as we always will, and if we can get a result there then weâre right back in the thick of things.â As for Derby, they will once again be without Jamie Ward this weekend. please log in to view this image Jamie Ward A thigh problem rules the Northern Ireland international forward out of this Championship clash. Ward missed eight games with a thigh injury before he returned as a substitute in the home victory over Brighton earlier this month. A new problem with his thigh then kept him out of the games against Middlesbrough and Chelsea. Derby hope Ward can be available for the Boxing Day fixture at Birmingham, but they will take no risks with him. "We are building him up to make sure when he comes back he is 100 per cent right. We are not taking any chances," said head coach Steve McClaren. "It is his thigh. It is not the same injury but one related to it." Ryan Shotton is set to step in for the suspended Jake Buxton against Norwich. Buxton serves a two-match ban following his red card in the Chelsea game. Zak Whitbread is still out with back and hamstring problems. The central defender has not featured for two months. Current Form Derby County: WLWLL Norwich City: LDLWW Match History The Rams and The Canaries have met 57 times in competitive matches Norwich having the upper hand with 25 victories to Derby's 17, there have been 15 drawn games. City have quite a good record in the away fixture having won 7 times, drawing 12 and losing just 10. They have managed to score an impressive 30 times at the home of The Rams conceding on 36 occasions. The Canaries biggest away success was on 28th December 2003 in League Division One (The Championship), when they thumped The Rams 4-0. Ironically Derby's best winning margin was also away from home when they romped to a 4-1 win at Carrow Road in the old Second Division on 16th April 1969. Five years earlier on 2nd September 1964 City managed to put 5 goals past County in their Second Division home fixture, Derby netted twice to make this the highest aggregate score between the two sides. The most dramatic finish to a Canaries and Rams match up was at Carrow Road on 25th April 2011 when Simeon Jackson's late, late winner kept City in the top two of The Championship causing BBC Radio Norfolk commentator Chris Goreham and the then co-commentator and current Norwich City Boss Neil Adams to go wild in celebration. I've had to put this up a bit early this week as I might not be able to go online tomorrow evening. If it gets lost amongst the other threads between now and Saturday I'll give it a 'bump'
My dad watched the game v Chelsea mid week and saw that Martin picked up his 5th yellow that game, doesn't that normally result in a ban?
Hurriedly hobbled together KIO, but it'll do! Seriously, brilliant as ever, always like these, thanks for doing it. Not sure about Martin, seems he will be playing, don't know the reasoning.
You need to pick all five up before the 31 November (December only in the PL). Otherwise you only get a ban when you get to ten yellows (if you do before the relevant cut off date for that)
Derby away is never going to be easy this season but after last weeks show and 2 clean sheets confidence must be sky high. I hope we start with the same team as last week and bring on the same 3 subs going in at 0-0 half time would do me Redmond and Hoolahoops are not good at defending IMO but can clearly change a game .
For a change, I will accept a defeat today, providing we actually take some of the game to Derby, and not have a another lackluster performance such as the first half last week.
City Line-up is: Ruddy Whittaker, Martin, Cuellar, Olsson Tettey, O'Neil Howson, Johnson Jerome, Hooper No change to the winning team then.
