I'd like to see Kelly Agger Sakho Enrique given a long run to see how they operate and then fill in the blanks from that if needed. Get rid of Skrtel, Coates, Robinson as don't rate Skrtel and the other 2 won't make it. The other young players seem to be ok but if we raise £10m from those sales then put that towards a specialist RB. If we find one and anyone wants Johnson then they can take him.
How abbout Kelly and Sakho when Kelly is genuinly fit? Wisdom and Sakho in the long run could be boss!
I think Rodgers needs to make a decision on Kelly and Wisdom. If he thinks they'll be good enough, start playing them. If he doesn't, go out and buy another big right central defender to pair with Sakho long term. Enrique is fine for a title team LB imo, he's only bettered by Cole and Baines in that position in the PL. We get get better, but he's not a weakness. Our RB needs something desperately. I'd love to see Rodgers have faith in Kelly and Wisdom and hopefully they'll make it, or give McLaughlin a go. Any of those are better options than Johnson. Papadopolous would be good, is he over his injuries? We decided against bidding last time around... Who else is available?
Wisdom is good enough as a player but is to young and needs to gain experience and maturity first. Enrique is title quality yes. But injured a lot. Keep him at the club but we need some one else. I'm scared he'll be the new Aurelio.
lets make that a back 5. his name is reina and i keep pointing this out! For me to build a title winning side out of that I would slash and burn 25mil + sales... sell skertl, agger and johnson for sure. Reina in goal, mingolet on the bench. he is 25.... he needs some time out now. RB: yeah maybe montoya but i am not convinced by his attitude. CB: I'd take a look at papadopolous but I'd be thinking toure here. I can't understand why its not been tried CB: Sahko LB: its simple... there's a real madrid man going spare and utd want baines not him. (i hope)
I think Wisdom is seen as a RB by Rodgers (I'm pretty sure he said something recently). In terms of our defence, we need a new RB, RCB and LB. Put it simply, we need a whole new back line bar Sakho. As mentioned above, Enrique is a good player to have in the squad so his replacement/upgrade isn't a high priority. However, we badly need a new one in his absence. A new right back with Wisdom has back up. A powerful RCB to partner Sakho. But more importantly, they need protection in front of them ...
It's not just the back four. We leave acres of space in front of the back four and that exposes them a lot.....but we are pants at defending full stop right now.....we need to get the formation right to give balance between defence and attack and then look at who should play where and what we need....although a couple of fullbacks seem certain!
Sakho and Enrique are the only first teamers out of that lot for me. Agger, Flanno, Toure as back up with time being allowed for Kelly, Llori and Wisdom - especially Kelly. We need a quality right back and another centre back. Skrtel, Johnson, Robinson and Coates can go.
well... sack rodgers and reina might come back... no i'm not being serious but in a thread where i'm the guy picking the title winning defence not rodgers thats what i'd do. 100k a week is no reason to stab a player like reina in the back, i agreed with buying minger day one. rodgers said then they'd complete. he then came out and said they always wanted shut so i don't forget dishonesty. Reina... would improve us a lot right now... his range of passing would improve our possession stats by 5-10% a game... I thought his game had vastly improved from jan last year. rodgers even said things like he;d lost weight and all that ****e.
Unfortunately I feel Reina is the exact keeper we need with the style we play. However where would that leave Minolet? Very, very difficult situation.
There are so many goals in our team, if we had a defence we'd be dangerous. Have to confess, I don't know what the answer is, but as long as we score more than we concede I can live with it. Not very helpful I know, but I'm a bit squiffy.
Reina left BR very little choice than to move on as he was waiting for the phone to ring from Barca - we've talked about all this in the past though. Mig is our number 1 and that won't be changing - hopefully his distribution will improve with age/experience. Lets not forget this is his first season for us and we do not play like Sunderland so he needs to adapt
