I see that master Buckle is bookie's favourite for the Stevenage job. If they employ him would his payouts from the Gas terminate?
In a word, NO. The club cancelled his contract & therefore need to pay compensation on the remainder of his contract. If he walks straight into another job, then that's good news for him.
Ah Chris, nice to know you're alive. So if he don't find work for another 5 years, are you still paying him a wage?
No, he was on a one year rolling contract, which means at most we would be paying him for a year. However if he walks into another job, we no longer pay him anything
Perhaps he can take some of the players off our habds that the new manager does not wish to retain on the books. As an Aside I thought that the Rovers played as a team today, lacked a cutting edge but they had heart and Crawley do not like to play the ball on the ground and get it in the air as much as poss obviously effective in this league but our defence was awsome.......obviously the players heard about the 4 potential managers watching the game so were playing for there contracts! Long may that continue however we need a decent striker.............woodards was immense today skinned the right back more than once good game for the gas 4 outta 6 well played. COR
And I presume you were involved in writing up his contract, eh? Unless it's been made public somewhere & I very much doubt it has, 99.9% of clubs would HAVE to pay up the remainder of his contract (regardless of whether he gets another job). In his his case, it would be 12 months. Unless Bristol Rovers are indeed that 0.1%, then you're paying compensation according to The Employment Law of the land. You should check it out Chris, before making yourself look foolish once again..
jenny, trollope and penney were both on 1 year rolling contracts. they were put on garden leave meaning we sacked them but we still pay their wages until the end of their contract or until they find another job before their contract with us finished. we finished paying trollope as soon as he joined the staff at birmingham. that was officially announced. we only just finished paying penney as he is still without a job and his 1 year contract has just finished. that was recently officially announced. i dont know how long buckles contract was for but the rumour is its the same as penney and trollopes contract length - 1 year rolling contract. but thats just the rumour. would also make sence as it follows the same as previous managers since 2005. also i dont know if buckle was sacked via the same route as the other 2, ie: put on garden leave, meaning we be paying his wages as normal until the end of his contract or until he gets a new job. or if he was just sacked, meaning a full compensation payment would of been paid or several installments to be paid. thats how it works.
I agree with regards to placing someone on garden leave & still paying them a wage until a new job comes along. But my understanding is it was an outright sacking. He is therefore entitled to compensation. You're last couple of sentences repeat what I have already replied to Chris with.
what you believe about buckle is just guess work, your opinion. and same goes for us we thought penney was sacked outright. that ended up being garden leave. but the only place in the public that mentions the finances with buckles sacking is here:- at 1 min 37 secs onwards http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16414080.stm we just dont know with buckle. but going by previous managers, we can only assume its the same.
Probably why more and more high profile staff in the REAL world are being employed on short term rolling contracts.
Agreed, one & two year contracts are commonplace everywhere nowadays. The crux in the matter with regards to PB is whether he was sacked or not? If sacked, then you pay compensation regardless of any Stevenage interest. If placed on garden leave, then you pay him a salary until the end of his current contract or until he finds a new job (& the club agrees to terminate his contract).
exactly. thats what i have said all along. we can only presume its garden leave like the rest of the managers we had. did you see that clip i included for you where the club wouldnt confirm either?
Then we're both in total agreement with each other, but Chris seems to think I'm wrong. I did watch the interview & that chap wasn't giving too much away with regards to Buckle (& who can blame him). His appointment has proved to be a costly mistake & quite embarrassing to the Board, I would have thought (3 managers in a year). Would you really want it made public just how much it has cost? Not only with regards to the monies PB may or may not be getting, but remember all those players he brought in on decent wages (for L2 football), who are simply not good enough. And now, if you budget in a new manager & him wanting his own players, the Buckle-era has easily cost the club a six-figure sum. Your next Annual Report & Accounts will make interesting reading..
dont think chris is disagreeing with you. he is just under the impression (the same impression as myself) that he is on garden leave. with regards to our finances, luckily we had 2 non league side in the fa cup to gain us enough money to pay buckle off or use for a new manager.
it says that someone else has sucked for buckalls bullshit. The board, fans and players would soon regret such a decision.
