Well that is a shock isn't it. There was me thinking he was safer than Fergie and this happens. As much as I have nothing against Bristol Rovers, from an Argyle perspective we do not want a team in the lower reaches having a bounce from a new man coming in. His record is a little shocking though given the number of players he brought in. I imagine the Gasheads are delerious today.

On the cards.............Recent form.....P.5...W.0...D.1...L.4.....F.6...A.15...Pts1...........Definately Peter Reid type form..........I assume they can afford to pay him off.

Six pointer coming up at Hereford this week...........desperate for a kick start..........as you say sensible we don't need clubs around us being given opportunities to improve..........last Mondays results were bad enough for us..............

A defeat at Crewe could start to stretch 3pts into 6pts.............and hard games to come............transfer window so important for us + Purse and Chadwick signing.

Really no surprise he has gone given only taken 5pts out of pos 30,does surprise me however he failed given his achievements at Torquay.Rovers are a relatively big club with diehard fans with expectations of promotion (like us) good luck to them ,but hopefully not at our expense.

Perhaps my opinion that success and the assembly of a winning team is a lot of luck and then some decent man management holds up. You would think that if a manager can gel a set of average type players in one side and then go on to another club where he gets to bring in loads that he hasn't had the opportunity to do before then he would make a decent fist of that. Sturrock 1 compared to Sturrock 2 says it all really. The smell of "bigger" is not always best is it.

I would think putting a "good " team together is an unknown science.

The blending together of so many different players...........young or old........good team players or individuals..........players who respond to a manager and play above their ability...........players that play well together that know how to interact with each other...........carrying no passengers..........backed up with a strong squad to cover for injuries and suspensions.........a good coaching staff that recognizes the strength of each player physically and mentally.

Led by a Manager who can get the best results out of his squad............ who is backed by Directors and Backroom staff who are all working for the same result.........success and promotion.

Of course you need your fair share of luck with.........injuries and the bounce of the ball..........when you can guarantee all this the rest is a doddle...........maybe thats why it's never been bottled and sold over the counter.
