Another massive game. After the shambles against Basel we need to win this.

JM has confirmed Mata will start. I'd imagine Willian will feature for sure.

    Thoughts?

I have been surprised Jose has not played the trio together all season. They have an understanding. That said I would with Willian for Hazard this week, give him a week off. Mata Hazard Oscar can play together Jose.

Fully agree. I don't feel the need to have Willian and Hazard in the same side at the moment. Oscar and Mata have both been better than Hazard and Willian will be sound defensively.

I'm not sure the early criticism of Willian is justified. Yes he did miss some chances but he got in the position to get them and goals isn't really his big thing anyway. Most disappointed in Hazard but I think that's down to him tracking further back so he's receiving the ball 10-15yds deeper than he was last season. Jose has to get the balance right with him.

I'm a big fan of Willian, I just feel he and Hazard are too similar but with Hazard out there's a real opportunity for Willian to take his place in the side. I'm just praying Willian gets in ahead of Schurrle.

Willian looked a seriously good player against us last year, his control and vision was exactly what we are looking for. He might be one of those players, (and there are loads of them ) who take some time to adapt to the PL. We got lucky with Hazard and Mata, they came out flying, but Jose has them both nobbled so far, which ,in my opinion, is why we look so pedestrian. Without that great midfielder we are missing, we need our Amigos playing their natural games, not running backwards trying to pretend they're defenders.
Love to see Willian, Oscar and Mata on the attack.

Judging any player on two games is absolutely ludicrous. He's been playing in Russia for 6 months and before that Ukraine, two very poor leagues and he's also had time out of the CL. Give the lad time, he's still young! (Not aimed at you two btw, just anybody criticising him, including rival fans!)

    Cech

    Azpi
    Cahill
    JT
    Cole

    Mikel
    Rami

    Schurrle
    Mata
    Willian

Still 3 pts though! Plus Schurrle looked class! We are back in business!

Very professional performance. Everyone played well and even Willian got an assist having only played for 10 mins.

We couldn't have asked for a better night with Schalke winning at Basel, puts things completely in our hands. All we need to do now is beat Schalke in Germany then if Basel don't win in Bucharest 1st place is completely in our hands. I'd even take a point at Schalke providing we beat them at home.

Bollocks to the H2H rule in Group Stage by the way <ok>

Good win against dreadful opposition. If nothing else this should lift the squad who all played well, and probably our most fluid game of the season. Special praise to Schurrle who does everything well except score, Mata was sublime, his simple passing simply great, and Brana was a rock. No one was poor, but Eto looks like he's either still not match fit, or past it.Slow of pace, slow of reaction. Oh for Lukaku up front instead of getting 3 points for Everton.

Thanks for posting this, my son had real problems with his usual links last night, so I passed this on to him and he was able to at least watch some of the match <ok>

I like the way Schurrle is fitting in so well. Would have like to have seen more of Willian though. Eto'o not doing it for me. Nearly crapped myself when Cech had his little incident with the goalpost.

Would love to see Schurrle - Mata - Willian against Norwich, thought Oscar was below par last night. Ramires and Schurrle were great. Torres seems to be injured now, and he looked up for it last two games.

Good and much needed win. Have a feeling Stauea may end up being the whipping boys in this group so we cant rely on them to take points off the other 2.

We really need 4 points from the 2 Shalke ties which should get us through on head to head if it comes to that.

Got to say, I'm a big fan of Jose's "you're only as good as your last game" approach, he appears do have done it with De Bruyne, Hazard, Mata and Torres. Should keep them all on their toes striving for their positions whilst playing well. Shurrle was immense yesterday and I bet he starts on Sunday.

Excellent win, poor opposition but 4-0 away from home is good against anybody in the Champions League. Onto Norwich <ok>

Exactly how it should be. These are all top class international players and no-one deserves a place on reputation or past form alone.

As much as I rate Mata, it shows a completely lack of respect for the other players in his position to just say he's should always start.

    Exactly <ok>

For the first time in a VERY long time, I had a quick glance at the Daily Mail sport section, came across this hilarious article. Anybody read it? Very funny http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ike-just-Chelsea-manager-passing-through.html

If anyone watches sunday supplement, they'll know Ashton is a complete tool anyway.
