Bruno Perone QPR boss explains reluctance to play âdisappointingâ centre-back Ian Cooper Monday, October 10, 2011 11:55 AM Perone is paying the price for poor early-season performance against Wigan Bruno Peroneâs âdisappointingâ performance against Wigan earlier in the season is the reason the centre-back has hardly featured for QPR this season, Neil Warnock has revealed. Brazilian Perone has made just two appearances for the Rs, against Rochdale in the Carling Cup and Wigan in the league, since he signed a one-year deal on a free transfer in the summer. Franco Di Santo scored twice for the Latics in their 2-0 win over the Rs in August, his second goal deflecting in off Perone. Perone has been over-looked ever since, with Warnock opting to partner Fitz Hall with Anton Ferdinand at centre-back in Danny Gabbidonâs injury absence, and the Rs boss suggested that first-team appearances may now be few and far between for Perone. âHeâs got to get acclimatised to the English game really, there were certain aspects of his game at Wigan which were disappointing, hence heâs not been involved since,â Warnock told London24. âI thought both the centre-halves could have done better in that match. âYou look at Danny Gabbidon and Anton Ferdinand, and Brunoâs down the pecking order. If he wasnât, he would have been playing.â Meanwhile, Wales international centre-back Gabbidon is likely to miss QPRâs home clash with Blackburn on Saturday. Gabbidon missed the west London derby against Fulham as he recovers from the knee injury he picked up against Aston Villa. I don't even think Perrone is worthy of the Championship. We keep Perrone but let Gorkks go??? It makes no sense. Is there something behind the scenes that we don't know about regarding Gorkks?
There must be. It seemed at the time that this Donkey was forced onto Nelly when he was given no money from the Goons.
That's what I thought. It would of carried more substance had he been Italian. Let's hope we have now moved on from the previous political shenanigans.
Not many fans had a good word to say about Perone's out-of-season performances. NW has found out what the fans already knew...and about Hall...and about how rash it was to let send Hill out on loan, and sell Gorkks...Oh, well, at least Traore, Ferdinand, Young and possible Gabbidon, look good additions
Have never understood this criticism of Perone on here after one I think game in the PL. He improved as that game with Wigan went on, and was only prevented a good goal with a header from 10 meters out and under solid challenge, by half the width of the crossbar. If he had scored I suppose he'd be a fe**in hero! Don't remember any other stopper coming close this season. He may not be ready now, but should be soon. But why so much sh*t for 1 game, and when he's new to the PL and England?
After last seasons fantastic clean-sheet sucess, I still feel that Neil should of kept them together as a defensive unit into the Prem. Give it 4 or 5 games, and see if they could all step-up. Better off, keeping to a tried & tested formula imo. If after that, it proves not to be, then so be it.
Its because when he was on trial he was Pony and never should have been signed up in the first place. COLIN has as good as said that above; he's sh*t. And North's right. It has all the hallmarks of a Paladini chump signing.
i saw him against Rochdale & Wigan and he was by no means the worst defender and he is a little unlucky to be playing when we had crap defenders at the club,im not saying play him Saturday but i think some of the comments on here are a little harsh.
Colin said the Coaching staff had liked what they'd seen of Perone when he was on trial, and decided to offer him a contract. He then included him in the 25 man squad after he'd played against Wigan - did Colin select sh*t for the 25, I doubt it!! Colin is quoted as saying now (?) that "âHeâs got to get acclimatised to the English game really, there were certain aspects of his game at Wigan which were disappointing, hence heâs not been involved sinceâ. This doesn't mean Colin thinks he's Sh*t now either, but needs to get acclimatised. So why call a guy sh*t after one game - you are looking about as far ahead as the end of your nose.
Maybe! But if we only get one new central defender January maybe Perone will stay, and Fitz or Connolly will go.
He's sh*t Oslo. He was even **** at CCC level so how on earth he can be alright this season is anyone's guess. COLIN was forced to sign Perone because he had no dosh. He wasn't forced to keep One Size at the expense of Gorkss or Hill. Bad move.
Yeh I thought Gorkks was a bit better than One Size, we got 900 thousand for him I saw somewhere. I hope we can get Hill back as cover for Traore if necessary, if not that does seem a bad move.
