http://www.planetf1.com/driver/18227/7263280/-Brundle-to-swap-BBC-for-Sky- So it looks like Brundle and Croft are going to be Skys commentary team for next years F1 season. I wonder who else will complete the line up for post and pre race shows?
does it get much worse -- we all now have to pay for sky and will have to suffer the ****ing adverts , hang on guys , knowing sky it will get worse , very likely when the bbc bugger off completly from F1 , we will not only have to stay with sky , very likely murdoch will start charging us for the individual races -- see guys -- this is what happens when you dodge your tv licence fee --
I'm keeping an open mind. I've managed to get sky sports for free, I'm hoping that being a dedicated sports channel they may actually bring something new to the coverage and I don't mind the adverts along as they keep them to the post and pre race shows.
That's a shame, I was enjoying the commentary team of Brundle and Coulthard. I have doubts about Croft, as Brundle will presumably be the lead commentator. If Sky are going to such lengths to get Brundle, it shows they are committed to F1 - I just hope they don't have one of their barbie doll sluts presenting the coverage.
Would the BBC dare bring back Legard? After all, it was mainly down to Brundle that he was replaced. Doubt they gave a **** about what the viewing public wanted. He is still on teh beeb payroll
hey forza nothing wrong with a nice little bit of treacle fronting the show -- knowing how sky work she is bound to have her threepenny bits on show -- it could be worse --- they might have a shirtlifter doing it --
Check out Crofts Brazil 08 commentary right at the end, it was the biggest fail ever. Though I do enjoy the free practice he does. Shame that Brundle is gone but he loves F1 and wants to do commentary on all races and I suspect he is also annoyed with the BBC as we all are.
not sure about brundle being annoyed matt , in fact i reckon he does a hop, skip and a jump when he wakes up every day , lets not forget he is supposedly on twice the wonga with sky --- -- its the best thing that could have happened as far as he is concerned --
It stems from brundles comments on his twitter. Saying he was "not impressed" with the deal. He had not been offered the money at that point though.
Aaaargh! Perish that thought immediately ASterChris. It is pure blasphemy! Matt: I think you're right that Brundle was/is unhappy about the BBC. I know Brundle well enough to know that he has a genuine concern for the fans and felt that they'd been kicked in the teeth with this one. However, with a choice of a half-hearted show next year, from his current employer - or a 'double-your-money' deal from a determined Murdoch, I cannot blame him for choosing the latter. As for David Croft: I'm not keen on him. His sycophantic affectations and his pseudo-laughter irritate me almost as much as the constant interjection of "err", often in the middle of a single phrase! "Eight double one ERR double one" - as if he'd forgotten his favourite number… No, I don't think so. This habit is an adopted affectation. But at least being human, he is infinitely better than Legard!
Maybe BBC will go with James Allen, SKY obviously sussed out Brundle is the main man and offered him megabucks, but have a feeling even that will not be enough for your average F1 fan to go to SKY, I won't be anyway.
as F1 on TV always needs a driver who never really made it big to commentate - how about choosing Schuey? only kidding - I feel the hot breath of hate already.
MBrundleF1 Martin Brundle Telegraph was wrong,I didn't sign £1m Sky contract today. Calmly working through it, will end up doing what satisfies me most professionally
I don't want to give the impression that I'd be in any way happy about Brundle leaving, and the grid walk in particular will be a massive loss. But BBC Sport needs to make savings, and the fact of the matter is that you can get someone who provides nearly as much knowledge for a third of the price. Davidson is one of the most dull-sounding commentators ever, but he knows his onions. The real loss here would be Crofty. He'll never be a tenth of the commentator Murray was, but in terms of his natural style he is in a similar mould. Some people don't rate him, but you've got to bear in mind that he's commentating for radio and then being put in sync with live pictures. If he is actually commentating for a TV audience I'm sure he will make the appropriate adjustments.
