Mazuch doing the presser with Nige this afternoon. please log in to view this image Adkins up first “I'm not looking at how many points we need. We know have to keep trying to win games and keep trying to move forwards. We've taken lessons from the game against Ipswich and now we're focused on Birmingham.” "We're a long way from out of it. I'm totally focused on making sure our performances are good and we'll take it from there. The difference has been putting the ball in the back of the net and it's as simple as that.” “I got the reaction I wanted after Millwall and that's been good because I don't want to have to say some of those things. Pressure is a big thing but we'll keep focusing on the performances because that's the most important thing in the long term.” “Harry has the opportunity to go as far as he wants. He'll go off to China now with the Welsh team and it's fantastic to see him involved with his national team. He needed to play games and it's been great to see him flourish.” “Ola has played consistently at right-back in the last few games and he's done really well. He is getting a much better understanding of what we need from him and I think he's done very well recently.” “We've got one or two little niggles but it's just what you'd expect after a couple of games in a short space of time. Abel and Ondrej come back into the squad and we'll have to wait and see who gets the nod in the starting eleven.” “Garry is a top young manager who usually wants his team to play his football on the floor. He's maybe gone into Birmingham and they're used to playing a different style but no doubt he's a good manager and it'll be a really tough game at the weekend.” Mazuch up next... ”Of course in the beginning of my experience with Hull it wasn’t easy because I didn’t play a lot. But with Nigel Adkins he told me I would play more and I am happy.” “I am happy but I need to be healthy. I’ve been unlucky. But my body is ok and I am ready to play every game.” “I think my style is good for England. It wasn’t easy for me but I work very hard. I like English football, I like the fans and I’m happy here.” “We are not safe yet because there are still lots of games but we feel more confident now. We try to win on Saturday and make our advantage even more.” The end.
David Burns @bbcburnsy Nigel Adkins straight-batting away most of my questions at his @HullCity presser. Won't be drawn on how many wins/points they need and won't be drawn on players contracts, though hinted some players may have been told whether they fit in with his plans. #hcafc
Quite right too. There should be no relaxation until the end. Nige seems to be getting an idea of what the best team is and will give them a chance to prove themselves. It is clear certain players don’t fit in long term for many reasons but if we can survive and re build for next season then that is as good as we could have hoped for. I like many are hoping for a change in the ownership this summer. That or England winning the World Cup, or both.
David Burns @bbcburnsy A club official confirms that they have offered a number of players contracts. They won't say who. We know there's one on the table for Clark. Likely that we'll trigger another year for Odubajo. A futile offer to Hernandez? Probably Larsson?
You'd think that given Hernandez is a goal scorer of high quality at this level then they would move heaven and earth to get him to sign a new contract .. even if it's just a paper exercise so they can make money off the back of him. Just shows the short sightedness of these idiots in charge.
Seems pretty clear for me (based on Swedish press and Sebs comments) that Larsson will join either AIK or Djurgårdens IF in the Swedish League during the summer.
We have the option of triggering another year, so assuming we're happy to pay him what he's already on, he can't actually leave.
Ah okey Didn't know that Just seen him commenting that his contract is expiring this summer and that he's currently checking his options.
I'd have larsson in heart beat, him or the Aussie at skipper, totally agree in offering Hernandez a top contract, with add ons for goals scored and promotion.
Hate to be pessimistic while we are riding a wave of back to back wins but I think it will be bargain basement and youth team, they don't want those extra pennies going on the price.
When he was pressed on exactly the same question a few weeks back and he said 'we need ten wins' he was crucified in the media for piling pressure on the team.
In the premier league with 20 teams it was always said you need 10 wins. When the league has 24 teams you need 12 wins. That should be the target. I think Nige is mentally tough and he is instilling this into the team. The job is no where near finished yet and no one should be relaxing. I think the mental toughness of the team has been an issue this year especially early on when late goals against us were the norm. If it piles pressure on when he tells them not to relax so be it. They are pros and should not need telling that anyway.
Yeh to be fair having not been in a job for a while, Nigel’s enrhuasim has been his own downfall a little bit and he’s been a bit ‘open with the press’. Keep them guessing a little bit then it can’t be used against you. Suppose that comes with winning a bit.
To be fair.a another 10 wins from our 9 remaining fixtures would see use safe. we just need to deçide who we beat twice.
