The conspiracy theorist in me wonders is Pisspoorpete's radio embarrassment & Bruce slagging Grayson were both planned for today to mask Bates' appearance in court. Could he have been promised a contract if he complied? Too far fetched?

The timing of it though... completely random and unnecessary interview, the only goal of it can be to slag Grayson off again. So yes I'd expect it's a distraction tactic. Possibly with the intention of reminding us that we're "better off" and that the board "made an excellent decision" to sign Warnock, to take the edge off the fact that we're about to lose a couple of million quid from Warnock's transfer "warchest" to pay for bates inability to keep his horrible mouth shut.
