Bruce is new Villa manager ... McClaren is re-appointed at Derby

Villa ... they will definitely improve under Bruce, and I expect them to start climbing the table rapidly ... the key for them will be how they support Bruce in January, because he will want to add players ... they can contend for a playoff place and relegation worries will now disappear ... excellent appointment

Derby ... they may have a little spike in results, but I really can't see why he has been brought back ... he failed there previously, it wasn't a happy parting of the ways, so can't see how this is a good long term appointment ... Derby will be mid-table at best under McClaren, and he could well be gone by February with the club sliding towards the relegation places if they're not careful ... a totally baffling appointment

pity we didn't get to play these two clubs a lot earlier ... Villa will be tough once Bruce settles in ... Derby will lift their game because it's Leeds and they want to impress the new boss

Bruce will always do a job but in the same context as Big sam. get promotions and not too many relegations without much cash. Villa is like Leeds a big hitter with history that is in danger of doing a Leeds. Derby, wow I can only think that Mac is still a director with shares and is the cheapest option if they havent settled his termination legally yet. He is renowned for being a great coach but shyte manager as can be seen at Newcastle. That one could go either way and he does have the best win stats for a Derby manager for years.

David O'Leary is brushing down his tracksuit ready for garry getting the sack and Big Sam walks back into England after last nights shyte
