They might be right and Bruce may not be who we need, or they might be wrong. I dont think those that think Bruce is a good thing should probably thumb their noses into the air after one win. We will look like idiots the first time we lose or if we lose a few in a row.
and fans complain about trigger-happy chairmen when sacking a manager after only a few games - until each team has played 12 or so matches it is impossible to even try and judge a manager and the team he has built - but is positive that all 3 goals were scored by transfer window signings.
Well done to Steve Bruce on negotiating a very difficult start to the season. We're 5th (2 points off the top) after playing four very tough teams and the players and tactics he has brought in are proving to be a success.
So by the first international break we've played 4 games, have 7 points and are 5th in the table. I think we'd all have been delighted with that if it had been offered to us before the season kicked off. It's hardly been an easy run of games either playing two of the relegated sides and last season's League 1 champions. We've even gone into the international break looking like we can finally score!
All managers need to be given time. The Allams are businessmen at the end of the day and have chosen to invest in one of the best managers that we could have secured to manage a Championship team. I've always been a part of the school of thought to give a manager at least one and a half seasons to allow him to make the changes to the personnel, any playing systems that are employed and restructuring behind the scenes if necessary i.e. training facilities, staff etc. Of course we're all angry when we lose games we think we should have won (Doncaster) and are then elated when we win games against decent opposition (Brighton, Bolton). The important thing is not to have a knee-jerk reaction to those results which can either lead to instability (fans venting their feelings at matches) or unrealistic expectations (putting undue pressure on young players). Bruce is starting to put together a good team, let's give him some time to get in who he wants and to implement the system that he thinks is going to give us the most success.
I dont like the idea of firing people who are on contract. He was signed for 3 years, personally I would give him 3 years. Barring relegation or something like that of course.
Firmly believe Bruce is the man to take us up and keep us there, can see him staying for a fair few years not just the 3 years in his contract
If Bruce takes us up, nobody will be happier than me, my disappointment with what happened to Nick doesn't mean I don't want us to do well, obviously.
I hope that eventually the club makes it up to Nick. It would be nice to see him in the stands one day.
What's not tough though? At the start of the season I would have said Bristol, Derby, Palace, Peterborough, Barnsley are teams we should be looking to get 6 points from. Bristol and Barnsley only have 1 point less than us, Derby have been exceptional at home. I think this season really could come down who plays the right teams at the right times. e.g. Bolton today, when they're seemingly suffering from a relegation hangover.
None of us knows what went on behind closed doors, so to say that I agree that the way NB was treated was a bit shocking. Hopefully the truth will come out soon, is a bit strange. For all we know Barmby could have gave the Allam's a mouthful of abuse, but whatever happened, it's in the past and let's look to the future FFS. None of this crying over Barmby bullshit
It could actually be alot better. Hull City should have gained at least a point @ Blackburn and taken all 3 @ Charlton. So thats 3 points more and we would be Top of the Championship. The football in all the games has been good to brilliant at times. Whats there to not like. 100% BRUCE IN.!!!!! Spot on. He knows what he is doing and gets first option on all Man Utd kids that are available. They are dwindling. I was not happy about the way Nick Barmby was sacked and he should still be at the club in some capacity. imo But we have moved on and must back the new manager.
