I think quite the opposite, if your doing a decent job you get appreciation at the time, phil brown as a classic example, promotion season and first premier league season everyone loved that man (at least te proper fans did, the ones like me who turn up to games in their football kits waving their foam hands) but when things started going downhill, peoples opinions changed and some hold little or no appreciation towards him at all anymore.
