Leeds reportedly eye £15m-rated PL midfielder that lee Johnson said is a "superstar in the making" Leeds United are reportedly interested in raiding Burnley for midfielder Josh Brownhill this summer. The ex-Bristol City captain joined Burnley in January 2020, since starring for Sean Dyche’s side. Back in 2019 before his move, Lee Johnson labelled Brownhill a “superstar in the making”. Brownhill, 25, has been excellent for Burnley, and he was for Bristol City. Clocking up 161 appearances for the Robins, he had a hand in 29 goals and his leadership saw him become captain at an early age. For a player of just 25, Brownhill is already very experiended – clocking up 298 club outings. Teamtalk claim that Leeds are battling West Ham in the race to sign Brownhill. Burnley want a fee in the region of £15million, who has already played 47 times for the Clarets since his move to Turf Moor. Johnson’s 2019 verdict will surely convince Leeds fans over midfielder Brownhill. “First and foremost, Josh is just an unbelievable lad. He’s been a very good student and I took him on loan to Barnsley and could see a superstar in the making,” Johnson said, as per the Bristol Post in 2019. “He can tackle, he can get up and down, he’s bright with his football brain. “He’s got a goal in him, he has good set-piece delivery and free-kicks from the edge of the box. He’s the first in and last out and every day he comes in and tries to get better. He must go down as one of the value signings in Bristol City’s history.” Is Brownhill the man Leeds need – amid Johnson comments? At £15million, he could be a bargain for Leeds. Saturday’s defeat to Manchester United is proof that Leeds need more depth in the middle of the park. Mateusz Klich is struggling to find his best form in the Premier League and Leeds need better. They also need cover for Kalvin Phillips. Brownhill can do both jobs. At £15million, he is pretty cheap for an English midfielder at the age of 25. If Leeds can get a deal done for Brownhill, then it would be a sensational bit of business. But Leeds need to get a move one with less than two weeks left in this summer’s window. https://tbrfootball.com/leeds-repor...ee-johnson-said-is-a-superstar-in-the-making/
Just like those Cotts signings, they just keep giving, all managers have them ~ John Kodjia, Korey Smith, Luke Freeman, Luke Ayling, Ryan Fredericks ( didn't stay long) Aden Flint & Marlon Pack
Just checked out what those players LJ sold for~ Freeman.............£315K..........QPR Ayling.................£290k..........Leeds Kodjia.................£15m...........Aston Villa Fredericks..........£225k..........Fulham Flint....................£7m.............M/boro Pack....................£4m.............Cardiff Total...................£26750m Not a bad bit of business LJ made on the back of Cotts signings.
I imagine we will get back for Brownhill, all of those put together....that's what you call keep giving!!
The lad did well.......................................................probably Ashton deals if the truth be known....shipped out, as were many others!!
I've got to be honest those are not exact figures just a rough calculation but he did achieve good business with them, if it was Ashton then he dropped LJ and us right in the ****, there could be a case that if LJ objected to any sales he should have stood up against the decision, not a wum just a point of view.
I've just dug this out, been looking all day, it's still waffle but gives a bit more info ~ How much Bristol City stand to make if former midfielder completes Leeds United switch Robins could be in line to land a tidy sum this window if Marcelo Bielsa's team complete capture of the ex-Lee Johnson favourite https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/how-much-bristol-city-stand-5807570
You forgot Webster, Brownhill, Reid, Bryan and Magnusson - probably others I can’t think of right this moment.
LJ-debate aside it would be a welcome boost if this does happen. Quick - over to the Leeds board to ‘big up’ Brownhill!!!!!
"Then City head coach Lee Johnson was loathed to lose one of his key lieutenants from midfield at that time, but a contract release clause that would have kicked in during the following summer was a factor to be considered by the club and Brownhill, then a captain of the side, headed north." Just one of many (key players) pulled and haters wondered, why as a team we didn't progress further..
No I never mate, if you study my original comment you will see they were listed as playres Steve Cotterill signed only and LJ sold.
I’ve just started a thread there. Not sure how it will be received though - the last time I posted on their board I was accused of being ‘obsessed’ with Leeds and it ended up in a bit of a keyboard war.
.....sounds like them. Used to visit regularly for the abuse when we were both in the Championship, but stopped since they went up. In all honesty, if you've got a decent thick skin and can give as good as you get, they're a really great bunch of posters and always up for a laugh.
