BUSY Steve Bruce has made it nine summer signings at Sunderland by landing Wes Brown and David Vaughan. Brown is set to end a 15-year stint at Old Trafford by sealing a £4million move from Manchester United in the next 24 hours. In-demand former Blackpool midfielder Vaughan will finalise a Bosman free move after a medical on Wearside. Manager Bruce, a former United captain, has agreed a joint £12m fee for United trio Brown, John OâShea and Darron Gibson as he looks to build on last seasonâs first top 10 Premier League finish for a decade. Vaughan, 28, is set to sign a three-year deal worth £25,000 a week after West Brom dropped out of the running to sign the free agent, unwilling to meet his personal terms.
I reckon Vaughan in signals Steed's exit. 25k a week should be less than Steed, so Im happy that there is some effort being made to sort out the bill.
the Brown/vaughn deal. on line it only just covers the headline, the full story they make you buy the paper. so heres hoping, the papershop has it in stock.
Paper talk mate, nowts done yet, although Brown has had his medical, so expect confirmation on that within hours. Best deal yesterday the scousers getting Charlie Adam. Liverpool midfield looking strong for the first game....And if the get Downing?
If this is true our squad is looking very strong for next season and probably O'shea joining and possibly Gibson? Its not going to be full of flair etc but hard working attitude and a desire to win will mean everything in the cold & injury ravaged months of January/February.
Vaughan is another good player. The only thing that is nagging me about this transfer is that he appeared (accordin to papers) to favour WBA over us. Now they pull out he chooses to come here.
