With their experience, they are gonna be vital at the Emirates.. But Wes is confident.... Wes Brown is ready to lock horns with an old rival once again when Sunderland head to the capital this weekend. The former England international is a veteran of clashes with Arsenal while with Manchester United, from whom he joined Sunderland in the summer. Now Brown heads to the Emirates for the first time as a Sunderland player and he prefers to look forward, not back, ahead of the game. "Obviously people ask me about the rivalry between Manchester United and Arsenal, but I would like to concentrate on Sunderland," he said. "I played for United for a long time but I am a Sunderland player now and for me everything is concentrated on that. "We believe we can go down to Arsenal and win. As a player you go into every game believing you can get a result and this one is no different. "Arsenal haven't started too well but everyone knows they are a good team. "But all we can focus on is playing the way we know we can and hopefully things will go our way." Meanwhile Sunderland are without the ineligible Nicklas Bendtner for Sunday's game but Brown believes they have more than enough resources up front to cope. "We'll just have to adjust and we have the players to do that in Connor Wickham and Ji Dong-won," he said. "Ji has played two games over the international break so he'll be raring to go, while Connor will want to get his first start and show the manager what he can do." Plus the ex Brum lads are feeling good about it to. http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...mn/seb_larsson_wants_a_happy_return_1_3871403 http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...raig_gardner_targets_repeat_victory_1_3871434
And now we need Bruce to show the same attitude, its what makes winners. We all know we may well not win but lets at least try. Great read to me, well said Brown.
For me its all about the team he picks on Sunday. If he goes in with just Sess up front then clearly he is playing for a draw at best and thats not good enough. If he simply replaces Bendtner with Ji or Wickham and plays a midfield as he has then I believe we have a chance of getting a result against a poor Arsenal (Van Persie excluded). If we play well, show a bit of willingness to get forward, but we lose then so be it. Its the negative selections that get to me. Anyhow, back to work...........
I like WEs Brown the more I see and hear of him - he wants to succeed here and it's great to hear him talking like that. Still have no idea what will happen this weekend - Head says lose, heart says draw but in the back of my head it say's "Kill them KILL THEM ALL"...Oh sorry - got distracted... Where was I - oh yes that voice - It tells me that they have problems at the back which could be exploited so we could have a chance of a win... Would I be happy with a draw - hell yeah!!
