if the transfers of brown and o'shea goes through would that spell the end of Ferdinand?

also, would it mean we wouldnt be signing an out an out left back and bruce is happy to keep bardsley there or even try richardson again?

who would also play right back? brown or o'shea? or even bardsley if rico goes to left back?

who would also be the centre back partnership because i doubt theyd be happy coming from man u just to sit on out bench??

for me, i would like us to sign a proper left back rather than sign brown and keep ferdinand (browns and ferdinands wages would probably be quite similar).

This is the one article in the last week that has made any sense.

We are crying out for a left hand side, if Bruce doesnt sign a left winger & left-back this summer that would be the thrid season without a recognised left back or winger.

For me this area is just as important as out strike force and having such an imbalanced team last seaosn was one of the not so clear reasons for our slide.

Obviously N'Zogbia would be a great left winger but a good left-back is hard to find and isnt cheap.

Ferdinand would be good to keep as backup. good professional and doesnt moan when he is left out and some of his performances at the end of the season (Bolton away) where very good

im with you imbrucewetrust, we desperatly need some width on the left hand side. If bruce ends up playing sess there who like to keep cutting inside then the left back is there to provide the width and a right footerd left back doesnt do this. i will be disappointed if didnt sign anyone for this position but if we sign brown and o'shea i cant see us signing any other defenders when there are still other positions that need filling.

Think people underestimate how much having a balanced side makes in relation to the attacking intent of a team. Dont want 2recall how many times we were going down the left hand side and the move lost momentum or the counter attack broke down because we were having to cut inside in2 traffic (except bardinho's odd scortcher) as our players simply wernt willing to continue on the outside and put a ball in the box. N'Zogbia and an average left footed leftback and the improvement would be massive. I rate Glen Johnson as a right back but he got torched against Switzwerland with simple overlaps time n time again. Anyone but McCartney n i'd b chuffed.

I thought we should have got that Konchesky in the deal for Henderson, hes average but with someone like N'Zogbia on the left it would still be very effective.

I would be dissappointed if Bruce didnt find a left back, it slaps everyone in the stadium in the face when you are watching the game that we are so poor down the left.
