Reports today that we have been in talks with Heineken for Broon ale to sponsor our shirts again. Apparently talks haven't progressed but if not them... who would you pick as a sponsor for the shirts if you had a choice? Wonga will be no more from the summer apparently...
Bringing Newky Brown back to the shirt would be an absolute master stroke by Ashley and his cohorts. Its the only logo that looks at home on there for me. Reports are that talks have broken down, which is a shame. I fear that SD will appear on the shirt if a sponsor cant be found which would be a huge step backwards for me. As for alternatives, id like to see some sort of logo on there rather than a name. Names generally need to be put in a panel and look ****e. I will be glad to see the back of Wonga. Disgraceful shirt sponsor. Just one thing though........... allegedly Wonga insisted in the stadium name being returned to SJP as part of their deal. Lets hope Ashley is not stupid enough the try and rename the ground again!!!
If not the broon ale logo... Ashley would have similar impact if he were to give the space for free to the SBR foundation. Or at least make one of our 3 shirts carry that man's name.
Does he actually care about making a positive impact with fans though? I'm not so sure that his stance towards us has changed as much as we hope it has. He seems to have lost complete interest in the club to me and perhaps its his lack of involvement that is allowing the club to make progress.
As there seemed to be some favouring a Newcastle icon and others suggesting a popular Newcastle brand how about this:
If we go back up and have Newcastle Brown on the shirts, Rafa in charge what a turn around that would be. The Americans love the stuff and also are big on the prem. there has got to be a worthwhile deal there for both parties.
They do, but they simply refer to it as Newcastle No mention of brown Ale and sadly most of them aren't even aware it's named after a place
I like the Brown Ale idea, but it will be annoying when we are playing in plain shirts in Europe because they don't allow alcohol sponsors
I thought that this idea had been pulled by Heinekin because of Ashley not willing to negotiate with price of sponshorship. If so, pity as I would have liked to see the Wonga logo go.
