Tayo Singerr hit a hat-trick to help Pompey record a 4-2 victory at Bromley in the Youth Alliance League.

He nodded home a Ciaran Martin cross to open the scoring, only for the hosts to equalise against the run of play.

But the striker soon capitalised on a poor back-pass to restore the lead before Chinedu Agu teed-up Nathaniel Chioma to give the Blues a comfortable interval advantage.

Singerr converted a corner to complete his hat-trick early in the second half before Bromley grabbed a late consolation.

Lead professional development phase coach Sam Hudson said: “We were pretty good in the first half after changing our attacking shape a bit.

“We dropped Luke Staight into the defence to allow our full-backs to get forward after identifying that our opponents would probably be quite compact.

“It worked really well and we enjoyed more than 20 final third entries before the break, looking in control for long periods.

“We went ahead through a well worked goal and there was some good linking up between our players on both flanks.

“But we conceded an equaliser from a set-piece out of nowhere, despite having eight of our boys defending four players, so that was disappointing.

“Thankfully, Tayo then got his second almost immediately – and it was probably the easiest goal he’ll ever score.

“Nat added another before the break and we then asked the boys to stick to the way we were trying to build, while not letting our standards drop.

“We increased our advantage around five minutes into the second half, with another header from Tayo to complete his hat-trick. It was nice to see such a clinical touch for him.

“For some reason, though, we started to lack a bit of intensity – perhaps it was a touch of complacency creeping in.

“If you’d arrived at that point, you’d never guess we were 4-1 up because we looked like we were hanging on.

“We were second best in all areas. Our back-line haven’t dealt with a long ball and that allowed Bromley to get a goal back.

“There are certainly some questions that can be asked about our mentality and professionalism in that stage.

“We wanted to see the game our more efficiently, but after some tough cup results, it’s nice to make it back-to-back league wins.”
