We are getting news that you have signed Britt on a 4year deal for a club record fee. What is your current record? We are getting no figures.
Our previous record was £1.1 million for Tyrone Barnett. Watford also have first refusal to re-sign when his contract ends.
From Posh site Britt Assombalonga Image by: Joe Dent PUBLISHED 08:57 31st July 2013 by Phil Adlam Peterborough United have signed highly-rated striker Britt Assombalonga for an undisclosed fee. Peterborough United have signed Britt Assombalonga for an undisclosed fee with the highly-rated 20-year-old penning a four-year contract at London Road. Assombalonga, who scored 16 goals during a loan spell at Southend United last term, trained with his new team-mates on Wednesday. Watford were reluctant to the transfer and have first refusal on any possible transfer. Assombalonga, who was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is expected to go straight into the Posh squad for the opening day fixture with Swindon Town at London Road on Saturday. Assombalonga scored 11 goals in 16 appearances during a loan spell with Wealdstone and five in five for Braintree making a total of 32 in 67 appearances during his career. Manager Darren Ferguson said: 'Everyone is aware we have been looking for a striker and this is the one that we have been after. Since Dwight left, we have been after him. We identified him, we have had him watched, he did very well at Southend and Watford thought very highly of him. 'I had a good chat with Gianfranco about him. We thought initially it was going to be a loan, but the chairman has come up with the money and that is fantastic for me. He has once again backed me. It was a position we needed to fill. 'He has a lot of potential the boy, he is strong physically, good pace, good finisher and a really nice lad. He ticks all of the boxes. He has improvement in him, but I don't think people will be too surprised, because it fits our criteria,' Ferguson said. Assombalonga will wear the number 9 shirt for Posh. One of our best prospects - sorry, was one of our best prospects Will do well and I think without injuries and with the right supply will score you 20 + goals this season. I predict a bright future for Britt who will be wanted elsewhere within 2 seasons with you. Good luck to you and Britt.
If that is the case Chris then both he and Posh will prosper with the likes of Lee Tomlin, Grant McCann, Danny Swanson, Jack Payne and Tommy Rowe supplying the ammunition. Should offers come in from 'bigger' clubs both Posh and Watford will be happy with the money he will make (I am absolutely sure there will be add-on clauses, plus Watford have first refusal anyway)
Who knows, if he lives up to his potential then maybe the end of season awards will become 'The Britt Awards'
LOL ..... Love this OPP Would you consider taking on the role of providing a match thread each week ? We need to get some more Posh fans posting on here !
Just a suggestion Minxy. Every now and then, how about asking someone to write a match day thread from a guest's point of view?
I will give your request due consideration Minxy, it all depends how I feel on the day (the days of who I feel have long past sadly)
I'll do one every now and then for you if you wanted. Let me have a fixture list and any that opp can't do or if he fancies a rest, then I'll gladly do one for you
We are so lucky to have Darragh .... great to hear his enthusiasm again Thanks .... we certainly hope so Good luck for your season too except for the obvious games
Used to be his shirt sponsor Going to be a great player for you guys , I must admit to be a little surprised when this was announced
Hi Norway ..... Thanks for posting He sounds like a really good prospect for us Do you know what sort of striker he is? Is he better with a partner or can he play up front alone ? Hope he gets to play Saturday ..... Can't wait Good luck for your season ..... Think you have a great chance with that team
