Britt Assombalonga: Forest seal deal for Peterborough striker..

Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Peterborough United striker Britt Assombalonga for a club-record fee of around £5.5m.
The 21-year-old has signed a five-year contract after passing a medical.

He scored 33 goals in 58 games for Posh last season and had attracted interest from Premier League clubs.

The deal eclipses the £4.5m Forest paid for Pierre van Hooijdonk in 1997, two months after director of football Barry Fry said Assombalonga was not for sale.

The former Democratic Republic of Congo international began his career at Watford and, after spells on loan with Braintree and Southend, Posh paid a club-record fee of £1.5m to bring him to London Road in July 2013.

He finished as League One's joint-top scorer, as the club reached the end-of-season play-offs and won the Football League Trophy.

Now Sam is the top striker in our league, worth at least £5m..

Good profit for Peterborough. If they replace him with a cheaper striker and strengthen other positions, they could upset Sheff U, ourselves and PNE for the automatic slot.

Well, now we and more importantly Brighton know Sam's market value. Sam and Assburgler were joint top scorers in L1 last season, and granted he is a couple of years younger, so Sam has to be worth at least £4 million!

Problem is Sam has less than a year of his contract left...then he can go for free. I sure hope there's negotiations going on that us fans are not privy to......

They bought Assombulonga with cash they got for selling Gayle to Palace

2 good pieces of business by Posh.

Will be interesting to see who they go for to replace him.

I get the feeling, having read an interesting article by their Chairman, who wants to take more of a back seat this season, that that might be running out of momentum ?

What's your take on that story Minxy ?

Time will tell. As Simon says, it'll be interesting to see who they can atrract to take his place (Assombalonga)
