British starlet Laura Robson suffered a second round exit at Wimbledon - but not before giving 2004 winner Maria Sharapova a scare. The 17-year-old got off to a flying start and raced into a 4-1 lead. Title favourite Sharapova eventually hauled her back and took the opening set to a tie-break. Sharapova was a mini-break down at one stage but recovered to take the first set on Court One. The Russian took more of a strangehold at the start of the second set. She broke twice to give herself a 5-1 lead. But Robson battled back with a break of her own. She could not quite pull off an incredible turnaround, but ensured that the scoreboard looked very respectable as she lost 7-6 (7/4) 6-3. Sharapova goes on to face Klara Zakopalova, while world number 254 will return to the Challenger circuit. But she did win the hearts of the Wimbledon crowd with a performance that promised a great deal for the future. Of the crowd, Sharapova said: "It's completely understandable. She's young, she's moving up and playing really good tennis, so there's no reason the crowd shouldn't be behind her. "I didn't play my best today. I felt I made a few more errors than I had to."
