    Fuck off Jonny.

A Murdoch owned newspaper telling another organisation to stop telling lies. It's like Pud telling Eric Pickles to go on a diet.

We've been over this before. BBC1 and BBC4 do a ****load of good television, the likes of which you don't get on other channels because they're not commercially viable. Scrap the licence and TV would be full of reality ****e and imported American crap.

Then there's all the local news/programmes, radio stations etc. that would disappear.

I do think the beeb has tried to compete in the ratings war a bit too much in recent years - there's definitely too much reality nonsense and soap on there for my liking but when they do the good stuff they still do it brilliantly. The history and wildlife programmes are still world class and must make the corporation millions in revenue. The output on BBC 4 is also excellent - it's some archive they've got

I suppose if the BBC was sold off we'd lose some truly great shows such as Songs of Praise, **** re file, and Holby City to name but a few. <cry>

The majority of the content on the BBC is gash, you have to be proactive to find the good stuff you are talking about. I have randomly come across some very decent BBC4 documentaries while flicking - but if I was allowed free will on the matter I wouldn't pay for it because I don't consume enough of it to justify the cost.

My main problem is with being coerced to pay for something I genuinely don't want.
