Britain's Liam Broady was unable to become the first home winner of the Wimbledon boys' title since Stanley Matthews Jr in 1962 as he lost the final to Australia's Luke Saville.

The 17-year-old, from Stockport, was beaten 2-6 6-4 6-2 on Court One.

An error-strewn first set from Saville gave Broady an early advantage as he took the opener.

But Broady lost 11 points in a row as Saville took the second and continued his momentum into the decider.

The defeated left-hander said: "During the whole match I didn't serve my best.

"He managed to break me at the start of the second set and started to serve better himself, and the match just slipped away. He upped his game and I played a few slack points."

Broady enjoyed some vocal support from British fans, but they were once again left disappointed followed Andy Murray's semi-final exit on Friday.

He added: "The crowd were probably one of the best things today, my tennis wasn't.

"It was a fantastic experience. They got behind me and helped me and made me fight."

I'd never heard of Stanley Matthews Jr until now!

Looks like Broady bottled it in typically British style, but let's not put too much pressure on him.
