Always had a soft spot for the Gas, not sure if it's because they hate the Robins more than us.

    Up the Gas.

They have a bit of a chip on their shoulder about the Wurzels.

Bit like the Jacks have with us. <whistle>

Now who will be the first to respond from down west?

Back in the day our matches against Bristol Rovers were feisty especially at that extraordinary ground they had which is now a supermarket. 4-4 once with Tony Evans I think getting all 4.

Recall going on the old soccer specials in late 70’s and the police waking us around the stadium for ages before allowing us into the stadium.

Curiously bar 2 cup games we haven’t played them in the league since 2000.

I used to work for a Rovers fan, was a true gent as well. Never been keen on the other lot ever since.

Yes, I think Stapleton Road was the local rail drop off point. I was at a loose end one Wednesday and went on the train to Eastville to watch the Gas v Villa in a League up game. Villa had a certain Willie Anderson on the wing - cue song.

I stood on the Gas home end which had the viewing area and bookies offices for the greyhound racing at the back.

The end was congested enough until about 1500 Villa fans decided they wanted to stand there. Fireworks was an understatement.

After the game I went back to Stapleton Road to get my train as did the Villa fans. Out of the dark about 200 Gas fans came charging up the railway line. As you would expect, the Villa responded and the Gas quickly disappeared.

I've also seen Man U and Spurs at Eastville but strangely never City, at Eastville or their current stadium.

Last time I went we took ‘000’s to celebrate promotion in 1983.
