Looks like the gas have upset Hewlett Packard who are now criticising their stadium plan

Their eight-page submission has highlighted a number of areas:

The land in question has already been zoned for employment use by the council
No study has been made to show whether the employment land is required
No evidence to show why the stadium needs to move, as the highest gate was 8,427 in 2011-12 at the Memorial Ground and would be 27.5%-39% of the proposed new 20,000-seater stadium
The stadium could be a "bad neighbour" because it could the devalue neighbouring commercial properties
No noise level studies have been made
No proof over whether the stadium would regenerate the local area

Higgs, "We intend to be a good neighbour. We've gone through all the issues they've raised, some have been planning issues, some have been operational and some have no relevance to the plans"

Looks like we arent the only club in bristol yet again struggling with stadium planning permission.

HP did say it was having a "positive dialogue" with both parties to address its concerns over the proposals.

Basically, HP aren't really bothered about any perception of the stadium being a bad neighbour - games every other Saturday and some Tuesday evenings aren't going to affect its operations at all. What they're worried about is the effect a stadium will have on their land holdings in the area, which are considerable. I used to work for them and still know a few people based at their HQ behind UWE. They think that they will struggle to sell their land for housing if there's a stadium nearby. Well HP, tough.

Hopefully both our teams will be playing in shiny new stadiums soon <ok>

2 high profile objectors, possibly 3,Hewlitt Packard and Stoke Gifford Parish Council (believe it or not the stadium would come with-in the parish boundary) plus the local villagers,I don't know the name of the village and they have still got to get the Sainsburys application passed Bristol Council,it's going to be tough.

I also would like them to have their stadium.

why do all these know nothings keep trotting out the current attendance figures when debating this?

They seem to have no concept of improvement adding customers.. if they want to do a study, go study Swansea or Brighton for example.

From what I have heard from people in the know at South Glos Council, the objectors are going to have to come up with stronger reasons to stop this planning application happening

I agree banksy. Yes both city and rovers dont always sell out every game but if u look at clubs who have had new grounds attendence goes up with it.

Wouldnt it be just typical of the City of Bristol to turn down the opportunity to have two great modern stadiums that would enhance the city and give us all something to be proud of.

I really hope Rovers get their stadium, regardless of what happens to our bid. Modern football needs to be played in modern grounds that make customers feel comfortable and enhance the whole experience. The stadium can be used for so many other events that can also enhance the city as a whole.

The dream scenario of both Rovers and City achieving their goal of new modern stadiums is just that for the moment ..... a dream.

Lets hope this dream becomes reality
