BBC stats says that we had one shot on target all game......one nil to the Argyle........put that with a clean sheet and that equals a win.

According to the radio commentary we hit the bar and had another near goal in 2nd half when we seemed to be largely dominating.

Okay, well the 'win ugly' phrase was coined for this match and we came away with 3 points that were just about deserved.

The first half was completely forgettable with the exception of the first minute two footed off the floor tackle by Conner H- yes he won the ball but I suspect that in the premiership or later in this game some refs would have given a straight red. The rest of the half was very scrappy, littered with free kicks and both sides gave the ball away on numerous occasions- don't think there was a shot on target all half. Morgan had a poor half and no one really impressed; not sure why but there was a lack of tempo and a bit of a pre season friendly feel about the match.

Second half was better and improved as it went on- Boco made some great runs, Ruben had a good header from a corner saved off the line and Argyle generally pressed higher up the field and looked the likelier side. Good goal when it came , again from Reid . Rovers never really threatened to score but Luke was close to a man of the match performance for his immaculate handling and kicking. Luke Young replaced the algerian and impressed- I really do rate him and think he deserves more match time. I think we switched to 4-3-3 with Boca & Reid through the middle and Morgan on the left and we were much more threatening.

Lots of niiggly fouls & shirt pulling made the game one of the less entertaining ones but 3 points is 3 points.

That wasn't me BC it was all the others.

I cannot argue with that assessment lyndhurst. I asked at half time if anyone around me had seen any shots on goal or if either keeper had saved anything at all. Answer was no to both. It was definately the most forgetable half of supposed football I've seen in ages. It was obvious that Rovers came for a point right from kick off. They took an age at throw ins and goal kicks. Argyle could hardly hold onto the ball for more than a few seconds. The ball just didn't stick to anyone if you know what I mean. Rovers were no better with no ambition at all. Captain H could have seen red I suppose although not sure it was 2 footed and off the ground. Think yellow was right but it meant he had to watch himself for the rest of the game. To his credit, and I probably wouldn't have been saying this last season, he did that and was far more controlled thereafter. Influence of captain's armband once again for me. As lyndhurst said nobody at all stood out.

Second half was better if not totally inspiring. We just about deserved to stick one in as Rover just continued their bore draw play. Good cross and burried by Reid. Having said that there still wasn't a stand out player on the pitch. If I had to give a MOM assessment then I would just about give it to Branston. Reasoning is that he didn't do much wrong all match and it was Rovers 0. The Ref was fussy yet failed to see any of the important fouls. He had one decision for the box and a different one for the rest of the pitch. We could have had at least 2 penalties had he been inclined both for fouls on Marvelous Marvin who wasn't that marvelous to be fair. Ref did nothing about time wasting which on reflection did us a favour because we scored in the last 10 minutes and by that time it was too late for Rovers to change tactics and mind set. But Ref was poor.

3 points was the most important thing out of this so am quite happy tonight.

from a rovers point of view,

we could have had and should have had 2 pens of our own due to both being handballs. apart from that, that was it from us. it was a poor game by both sides, we were just worse than yourselves. both keepers had nothing to do and both defenses looked comfortable. had 0-0 all over it. then we switched off from a free kick that you scored from. overall you deserved the points as we were very poor. ref was poor as well in my opinion.

all the best for the rest of the season.

Hello Captain Jack. A fair assessment and I won't even argue with your 2 penalty shouts. I sit at the Devonport end of the ground and could see the 2 there quite clearly. Richocheting footballs and possible handballs at the other end of the ground are about at the extremes of my eyesight these days. I heard the very loud crowd appeals though.

It wasn't good though was it from a spectator's point of view. I said above and say again that I was surprised at Rovers and their sort of negative play. I thought they were a bit more up and at em than that and assume it isn't typical. Good turn out from the Gas though and by far the best so far. Only sides likely to bring more is Torquay and Exeter and doubt Torquay will out do your lot if honest. Now we have our 3 home points, best of luck to you and yours for the season also.

<ok> we have taken over 1000 to all 3 away games so far and 2500 to city in the jpt. not bad start for away games. but we have won or drew any yet! lost every away game :(

as our 2nd half at city was really good, i expected us to build from that when we played you lot. but we were shocking. i wasnt at the game but i know those who were an di heard the commentry on the radio who are biased towards us and they were saying we were so poor. you deserved it. reason why we are so poor is due to having no fit strikers and inexperienced wingers too. so many injuries has hit us so were playing ultra defensive so we dont concede. if we dont concede we wont lose and the if we can put just 1 chance away then were laughing. negative tactics clearly dont work. cant wait for players to get fit again <ok>
