Manager Sean O'Driscoll has suggested that he may stick with the same starting XI that secured a point against Blackpool yesterday. Brighton may also stick with the same side following the Seagulls' convincing 4-1 win over Huddersfield Town. The win leaves Brighton third in the league's form table, having not lost in their last five games. Neither side have reported any fresh injury concerns heading into the match. Bristol City boss O'Driscoll highlights Leonardo Ulloa threat for Brighton Head Coach Sean O’Driscoll says Brighton and Hove Albion striker Leonardo Ulloa represents a very real threat to Bristol City’s four-match winning streak at Ashton Gate. Signed from Spanish club Almeria for £2m during the January transfer window, the Argentinian target man has already netted five times for the Seagulls, including a hat-trick in last weekend’s 4-1 win over Huddersfield at The Amex Stadium. Ulloa is expected to spearhead Brighton’s attack in tonight’s Championship clash at Ashton Gate and O’Driscoll reckons the forward has given City’s rivals a new dimension. “He is close to being the archetypal target man, but is also technically very good, which is difficult to find,” said O’Driscioll. “That is why they had to pay the money they paid for him. He gives them another option, enables them to play further up the pitch and be more of a threat from set pieces. “He can hold the ball up and is an example of the progression they are making as a team.” Ulloa is the latest in a major influx of overseas players into the Championship and O’Driscoll explains the trend in terms of cost. He said: “We are seeing more and more overseas players in the Championship because they are more affordable. “You may find a lad you like in League One or League Two, but if he is English, they may be asking three or four million pounds for him. “I think most managers would prefer to buy British, but cannot afford to. We all buy New Zealand lamb because it is cheaper than British lamb and football is the same. “You look at what you can afford and what offers the best value for money. Gus Poyet bought Ulloa for £2m and has a player who is physically and technically very good.”
Paul Anderson sets Bristol City points target Bristol City winger Paul Anderson has said that the club will need to accumulate at least 50 points this season in order to preserve their Championship status. The Robins have taken 13 points from nine games since Sean O'Driscoll was appointed as head coach in January but they currently find themselves bottom of the Championship, two points adrift of safety. With 11 games of the season remaining, Anderson believes that the team needs to pick up at least 15 more points to guarantee survival. "My personal opinion is that it is going to take a minimum 50 points to stay up this year," he told the Bristol Evening Post. "It's usually a bit less than that and last year it slumped a bit because there were a few teams that really struggled. There have been a lot of unexpected results and all the teams around us have been winning. "When that happens, it raises the bar for everyone and we are going to need at least 50 points if we are going to be safe." please log in to view this image
Brighton play 5-4-1? I thought they played a variance of 4-3-3 with one holding midfielder in Liam Bridcutt. Brighton are a bit like Swansea, patient play from the back and gradually move forward by picking off the opposition. I expect a 1-1 here
