please log in to view this image v v Well Bristol City go into battle Saturday with no manager and having not had a particulary good home form since the season started. We play bottom and second bottom over the next couple of weeks and with all due respect to both teams we should be taking six points from the two games. Sheff Weds actually won there last game in the championship and will be up for this game. With the ludicruous decision to part company with Nigel Pearson suggesting it was results based the Lansdowns said- they are going to come under the spotlight over the months ahead. Clearly not having a manager lined or if they did it seems as if he has done a runner and changed his mind. On paper this should be a win however we all know how unpredictable the championship is.
I will be in hospital recovering from an operation but I’ll have my phone with me and will be following the results. I feel a ‘gloom’ though that I haven’t felt for some time.
We are where we are, the Lansdowns have had their desire granted,as far as I'm concerned wev've got to move on, Nige has left the club in a far stronger, sounder position than the precarious disasters previous regimes did, that is a Nige achievment on his own, nothing to do with the Lansdowns who restricted him, Saturday it's the same group of fellas out there and regardless I think they will do it fot Nige, City to win by 2 goals.
Best wishes for the op, hope it all goes well. Like you I feel a gloom, a complete contract to a week or so ago, I was looking forward to our injuries coming back, just thought we needed to pick up as many points as possible until the Calvary returned, to then be kicked in the nads by Lansdown’s and surprisingly BT, I’ve really changed my opinion on BT, which is a shame.
I support City obviously, managers come and go, even Nige. Of course we move on, it just highlights why we are where we are, a mid championship side. I’ve come to the conclusion we ain’t going nowhere until the ownership changes and that’s depressing.
'Support your team' - Nigel Pearson delivers passionate address to Bristol City fans Nigel Pearson's former assistant Curtis Fleming will take charge of today's game against Sheffield Wednesday at Ashton Gate Former Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson has thanked Robins fans for their support and messages over the days since his dismissal at Ashton Gate and urged them to get behind the team under Curtis Fleming. Pearson was sacked last Sunday with the club initially citing results and under-performance in the league table as the reason for ending Pearson’s two-and-a-half year reign at Ashton Gate. In a subsequent interview with BBC Radio Bristol, chairman Jon Lansdown has indicated concerns over training methods and the conditioning of the players also came into the equation as they look for the 60-year-old’s successor. Nonetheless, Pearson leaves a proud legacy in BS3 having successfully navigated the club through difficult financial restrictions post-pandemic in which they were in danger of falling foul of the EFL Profit & Sustainability rules. The wage bill was successfully reduced, significant money was raised in the transfer market following the development and sale of Antoine Semenyo and Alex Scott, two players who were among a raft of academy stars to have been exposed to consistent first-team football. All the time Pearson kept the Robins competitive in the Championship with league position steadily improving year on year but in the third year of his contract, the club decided to go in a different direction. The overwhelming majority of fans have felt a sense of confusion, loss and anger throughout the week due to Pearson’s popularity, not just as a manager but a statesman in how he dealt not just with his situation but the overall position of the club. And following constant messages of support, thanks and admiration, the manager - who has spent a stay at Kings College Hospital, London, this week as he addresses back and neurological issues - took to X (formerly Twitter) to display his gratitude. “Dear Bristol City supporters,” Pearson wrote. “The sheer volume of messages received this week has astounded me and my family, and although it's been impossible to reply to every message individually, I have read as many as I can, and truly feel humbled. “My representative has made me aware of the many emails, messages, and the fans’ forum, OTIB, which is a place of lively debate allowing genuine supporters to air their differing views, and the support shown for me and my staff has been incredible. Thank you to every one of you. “Please support YOUR team, with Curtis Fleming at the helm, which we have enjoyed working with, taking great pride in shaping with intricate and individual detail, and allowing to evolve with a caring touch. I've been proud to be a custodian and leader for YOUR team. Cheers, Nige.” Pearson’s former assistant Fleming will take charge of today’s game against Sheffield Wednesday at Ashton Gate with the club hopeful of appointing Pearson’s successor next week in time for the Championship fixture against QPR. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/nigel-pearson-bristol-city-fans-8883172
I think SW will park the bus today, as they will have seen how little we create through the middle of the park. I hope we get the result I feel we should easily be capable of, a 2-0 win, but after this week, who knows. I don’t rate Fleming in any capacity at BCFC, so my hope is just that for today..
