V well I’m glad I’m not around for this one-could get a litttle tasty if we get a hammering. sorry guys again I’m going for a Luton win-we cannot buy a win at present. LM teams actually sits lower than Nigel Pearsons at the same stage before Nige was removed from his position. I just do not see where goals are coming from sadly. The powers that be and the people that brought these signings in need sacking and if LM did have the final say then he falls on his sword as well. Ashton Gate will be expecting a response but having only won a handful of games all season I don’t see anything from this game. I’m going for a 2-1 or 3-1Luton win. LM must know results are not good enough and I would imagine deep down he knows his position is getting harder to justify. I don’t have a clue what team he will put out but goals wins games and we ain’t scoring them and don’t have any consistent goal scorers. A decent crowd will be at the gate on Boxing Day lose this and the natives are going to show their anger.
This match combined with a follow-up game against Pompey could be the turning point of our less than stellar season. These two fixtures should be seen as a six point time span but knowing our dismal performances against the supposed weaker teams I fear for something other than an Ashton Gate roar to celebrate 2 home wins in a row. Depending on whether we see a major uptick in the performances, or not, could create the ultimate decision time for the plug to be pulled on Manning. I feel he may have been sold a bill of shoddy promises mixed in with smiles and grins and if that is anywhere near true (such as with Coppell) then he will eventually be called to task and sent on his way. This Bristol City habit of constantly making lousy decisions will never move us forward as promised and by now I reckon most decent players will avoid us like the plague, and why wouldn't they?
I really don't want to see him fired but I believe he has to accept that we are not improving in any way no matter what statistics are used. The use of transfer fees, gained by selling off some crown jewels, has totally been flushed down the toilet followed by a bad smell. Do the top brass really think we are stupid because a lot of the guff coming down from up on high rarely, if ever, makes any sense to me and that for me automatically they don't give a dead rat's arse? Shameful.
If he goes, who would come in… I know some are delusional enough to think bringing Nige back will suddenly fix everything that’s wrong, it won’t! Who else is available we could attract? Gary O’Neil Steve Schumacher Steve Cooper - linked to WBA Mark Robins Russell Martin
just logged in managed to win but as you say a struggle -it ain’t going to get any better under young Liam.
Poor game, excellent strike from Twine though. Thought Bell did ok, although he really should have scored, he had only to watch the line and stay onside. Pleased with the win. COYR
Thanks for the win - well done Liam and the lads. It would be nice to end the year with back to back wins - let’s get revenge on Pompey and end 2024 in style.
My Christmas cracker gave me an old style football rattle that goes click, remember them you oldies? I felt that was an omen for today's game and indeed I was treated to another cracker from Twine on a highlight reel goal. Apart from that vital moment the rest of the match was the same old boring possession with little result which yet again proved we have no fire power up front. Mayulu never got into the play and was rightly subbed at half-time because he doesn't look to have any clue as to how to play his game unless he never has had such a thing. No Wells or Armstrong today but our possession was fairly good but until we use that dominance we will go nowhere, but it was good to see the great smile from Liam as he hugged Twine after the final whistle and that to me shows that he really cares about his job. Changing managers at this time of the season, unless you are deeply buried in the doo-dah, would be a negative even though I gave a thought to what might happen if we lost our next 2 games at home. He got us over the first hurdle of the Christmas fixture list but the next one up versus Pompey and Marlon Pack could prove just as difficult as today's squeaky win. Full marks to Max for the late save that kept our vital three points safe but as usual our defence let him down on that shot but he came up trumps. Onwards and upwards?
