v v Ashton Gate Stadium 25/01/25 3-00pm Back to Ashton Gate for a intriguing game with Blackburn Rover where we welcome back Andi Weimann. Captain Manning says the 6 away losses are not a concern as long as we make Ashton Gate a fortress Well lets see your players show up and give the fans a performance as the last two have been abysmal. I'm sure Weimann is going to want to show city fans what they are missing and will put a performance on. I really don't have a clue what the result will be- depends on what players turn up and want it. Really amazed we are so close to the play off spots with no recognised 9 on the pitch and lame ducks firing blanks. This championship is as weak as i can remember apart from Leeds there is nothing to fear and if we had decent strikers we could easily be in the top two. Fine margins -yes The Lansdown's invested in two strikers but not the quality that is required for a promotion push. I have never been a fan of Wells in the time he has been here always thought he has never done enough for the vast wages he has been paid- however without him this season city would be up the creek without the paddles. City have a fantastic chance of the playoffs if they can get the striker situation sorted -how ambitious are they time will tell.
My first visit to the Gate this season. I hope it’s a good one. Catching the train with the fam from Swindon at 10:40. My sons wife and her dad, plus a mate are coming (Man U fans ) and my youngest daughter and her fiancé (Hammers fan). I’m hoping to convert them from being ‘plastics’ to being ‘proper’ fans, but I’ll need Liam and the lads to put in a shift to have any hope of converting them from watching their teams on Sky from the comfort of their homes or a nice warm pub, to making the trip down the M4 and paying £30+ to watch Bristol City!!!!! To be fair, my daughters chap isn’t a plastic - he lives in Chelmsford and watches the Hammers from time to time. He’s interested to see how Earthy is performing. COYR!!!
If they watch the dross that was served up at Coventry and sheff weds they will be glad to get out of the gate.
Yes I know. However our home form isn’t too bad and we are due a decent performance so I have my fingers crossed. It’s all been arranged for my sons 32nd birthday and I’ll be drinking that day, so it’ll either be celebrating or numbing the pain!!!!
Enjoy the game bcfcred but I think it's a match we are more than capable of losing and I take Weimann to score at least once against the team that in reality got rid of him and I don't truly know why - wages? We looked extremely poor in our last game and unless Manning wakes up to the that fact then he will blindly lead us down the path to another booing at the end and how on earth he can say our away form doesn't bother him then I think we have a problem beyond fixing. Another season of unanswered questions is starting to become boring and here we are nearly at the end of the transfer window with possibly only a couple of deals which right now look to be departures rather than arrivals. Whittaker from Plymouth would have been a good shout but we let Middlesbrough beat us to the post and let's be brutal in asking what decent player would want to join a dysfunctional club like Bristol City?
For me this is the best chance in years and the club are wasting the opportunity for another push to the promised land. Somebody summed it up on another forum-Bristol City and Ashton Gate was a purchase for the bigger picture of the new housing and arena complex which will bring in huge profits. Summed up by the fact he will be able to sell for a huge profit to a multi billionaire.
How many chances do we need to get to wherever Lansdown wants us to be because by my reckoning we have been there many many times before but the egg-heads decided it was not for us or the supporters. Is there anyone at our club that actually knows what we want, or even more important is there a hope of employing someone who knows what it takes to get there without sitting atop a bunch of pillars and credos that aren't worth the paper they are written on.
I've said many times that he needs a partner, and we may see more from him. Give him and Bell/Wells a run of 5-6 games together and see what they can do. But that would mean breaking up that midfield 3 he loves so much.
I simply don’t think we’re good enough to break into the top 6 and stay there and we’re absolutely miles away from the teams occupying the top 4 spots
He does, that’s not in doubt, it’s his inability to unlock defences in open play that is in question.
