.......actually it is not, but assuming a multi billionaire took over and said I am going to pay off all the debts and give £100m for players..BUT... You cant have red You cant have a Robin And the new ground will NOT be called AG "the gate" or I know we would all SAY " *********** " rather play in the conf or whatever....But what would be your alternatives..just for fun!
Well as long as we wont play in blue, and be called Bristol dragons etc I wouldn't mind. If it meant we were sitting top of the championship and heading for the prem.
I like the JG idea of White with Gold/black piping (or both). I have to say that us not playing in red would be a farcical situation, and confusing. "Come on you whites (with the black and gold pipes)" As we are not Portsmouth or Southampton, a ship is probably not appropriate (we do not live by the sea), so I would go for the BRI, or City Road. Well, OK, the Suspension Bridge. I know its boring but appropriate. The stadium name would obviously go to the individual or organisation who stomped up the cash, but I have to say that if we were to sell our identity I would hope we would get more than 100 M. After doing up the new ground we would have just a fraction of that figure left to invest in the team & academy
GROUND IS DONE AND DUSTED £100M IS WHATS LEFT Bristol was once one of the top ports...but the suspension Bridge..good imagine shouting out come on you suspenders, ......lol
We would probably be White with a concord as a badge and be called something like the Jets. Me I don't see great problem with Cardiff changing to Red it's their national colour and they are the capital city. It's the badge and name change that would probably send them over the cliff. They were sold the dragon based on the Welsh flag but VT was always referring to the Malaysian dragon. If I was their fans I would be hoping for some investor to take an interest in them once they're in the Prem and return then to their normal selfs. VT gets money back for his investment the fans get their identity back to normal colours etc.
If we had to change from red & white, how about the old Bedminster colours of Amber / Claret shirts and black shorts. Without Red shirts, a robin becomes redundant so Suspension Bridge is fine. I don't care what the stadium is called if it mens we get a higher quality team in the Prem.
There would be a alternative club up in South Bristol quickly. Transition of fans from club to pub team in red and white add a few ex City players in starting XI. One pub fits the bill there straight away. Name change, few hundred lads in support and it would be off.
Shame on you Rickster......Bristol is one of the oldest, busiest and most historically important (although for some bad reasons!) ports in the country and has a proud tradition of shipbuilding too.
Jesus I can`t go to any forum without thinking its a Cardiff forum. I hardly think a history of being relegated is a proud history for any club including ours. Not many teams will find investment to compete with the top premiership clubs so your history will be safe for a while yet as that is all that matters to you. Personally right now I hope you avoid relegation as I have posted here before. jck
I would have a huge problem with this - but that's not to say I wouldn't come round to it in the end after a decent season in the prem. a football club is a sacred thing. I have been supporting City since the early 1970s and the club is in my blood. Similar debates have been held about merging with Rovers. It would take some time to break into our hearts, but the youngsters may take to it quickly if a Bristol United romped the Prem and were on Sky every week competing in the Champions League! - we might even have kids from Manchester or London wearing our shirts like our kids do theirs!
Its a harmless hypothetical question, but hundreds can turn out to watch boxers, pub teams in finals, its City fans turning up so the right heads together could come up with something of substance. BCFC fans would put a significant fight up.
